If an American chooses not to buy to impress but put that money in investments. They could become very rich and debt free in no time. In America, you only have to provide 10% of a sum to receive the entire sum especially for mortgage. Instead of buying a big personal house, imagine what a person can achieve by investing in real estate.

Standard of living in America is high...to stay in an urban highbrow area, you pay as high as 700usd a month for a studio apartment. They don't have enough to save, they need the debt to get by.
