Hello house, I think it is high time we all agree to a particular unit/system of measurement when it comes to certain issues like player rankings. The words below average, average, above average, top player, excellent player, world class, legend etc should be well defined and where possible mathematically proofed/backed up. Reason for this is simple. I believe anyone who has grouped our players into classes has done so using his/her personal metrics which is based on their understanding and perception which might not be generally acceptable. The rating done in football is often on scale of {0-10} or {0%-100%} which afford the no 5 and 50 to be average mark. A pundit who uses 0-10scale can easily group players in to 5 classes {POOR(0-2.49), BELOW AVERAGE (2.50-4.99), AVERAGE(5), ABOVE AVERAGE(5.10-7.49) AND WORLD Class (7.5-10) while any one who uses just 1-3 or will likely have (BELOW AVERAGE, AVERAGE And WORLD Class) which is limited when the pool of players is much and wide. If I were to use the 0-10 scale, None of our players will make it to the World Class group. I repeat none. I'll place Ndidi in the 'top' of THE ABOVE AVERAGE group alongside Mikel, Iwobi slightly below them in the same group, The rest bunch of average and below average players. The World Class tag should only be left for the very few players that are consistently churning out great stats season in season out. The likes of Aguero, KDB, Modric, Chielini, VVD, Ramos, Kante Neymar, Cavani Suarez, Ibrahimovich, De Gea, Lloris, Mbappe, Salah, etc led by Messi and Ronaldo who occupy the very Top.) won't class the likes of Pogba, Vardy, Auba, as World Class, they might be close but they ain't. On the other hand. The word LEGENDARY IS RELATIVE! A player does not necessarily have to be world class to be a Legend. Even Green Forest FC(smiles) have their own Legends. Legendary status can be achieved via Loyalty, No of years of service, contribution etc. It can be attained either at club level or international level. Some players are lucky to have both. Bobby Charlton, Pirlo, Maradona, Pele etc Morgan, Vardy, are Leicester Legends but not world class, Keshi, Mikel are Nigeria legends but not world class! I hope this proposition and examples will help resolve various misconception and also save us from series of back and forth arguments. |

elyte89:Makalele was of the highest quality but was not rated by FIFA for the Balon D'Or. That is why I say World class has many criteria. If Ndidi does what he has done for the last three years continuously he will earn the World Class status. It is not by Balon d'Or ratings but continuous high level performances. Playing at a high level for a long time. With that, you can see Ndidi is top quality but needs to operate on this level for a long period of time to become World Class. |

TheGoodJoe:Are u sure makalele was not rated among d top 30 balon d',or contenders? And u av checked ur record well,I doubt... FIFA usually release a first 30-40 man list for balon d'or,den it would b prune down to 10 or 15,,den later 3 Am very certain makalele would av made such list But am so sure in d last 15years,no Nigerian player has made d first 30 or 40 man balon d'or contender..and bros,if u re good ,u re good,if u churn out a consistent performance for a top club yearly,am sure FIFA won't b so biased not to list such a player,at least for d first 50 I can mention as many top class/world class player who make such list yearly,d likes of aguero, robben, ribery, pique, busquest,Buffon,de gea,Silva(Spain) etc....and so on,made d list for a very long time, some get drop when pruned to 10 or 15,wyle some gets drop when pruned to last 3 D question now is,in d last 10years,do we av such a player in eagles dt make d first 50 balon d'or, once? Let alone of yearly? To me if u re not among dis category of players,I can't consider u as world class, when FIFA no consider u,so who I b? |

elyte89:Might have been but never heard of that. Either way, he is one of the greatest defensive midfielders ever to grace the game. To the point a tactical role was named after him. Yes he got laurels playing for Real Madrid but hardly hard the glory. However, from the likes of Makalele and Totti, one thing is constant. Top quality performances game after game. This is something that can be denied. Laurels can be, playing for a small club might be but top quality performances can't. Which is something Ndidi has done for about three years, which shows his is of a very high quality. He needs to continue this for some years to become World Class. |

elyte89:Same with Mikel, he did his work as a shield of Chelsea's defence to perfection for a long period of time. Many might disagree but if you look through the microscope of my criteria, you will certainly agree Mikel is World Class. |
