A graduate from the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH who sells roasted plantain, popularly known as 'Bole' (pronounced: Gbole) in Calabar, Cross River State capital, Nigeria, has said she is not ashamed of her business.

The graduate, Martina Ofem, Popularly known as Tina Jb Ofem, who graduated from the department of Guidance and Counselling told CALABAR REPORTERS on Tuesday, 14th May, 2019, that why she ventured into the business is because she studied Entrepreneurship and the increased demand for Bole and she wanted to be her own boss and an employer of labour.

Ofem, who graduated in 2016, about 3 years ago, said she started the business with the name: TJ's Vendor in 2019 and dreaming of having a bigger company in the next 5 years if gets assistance.

The CEO also stated that she started her enterprise with a N100,000 (Hundred thousand Naira) only, an equivalent of $300, which she gathered through the use of social media.

The graduate said she currently have few (one or two) persons working under her and she'd like to increase the tally if funded.

She advised young and fresh Nigerian graduates not to wait for government or 'White Collar Jobs', but to be more innovative and enterprising.

Despite the economic downturn and where Nigeria find herself today, Martina Ofem and other young Nigerians out there are shaping and building the country with their smaller enterprises, what are you doing to shape your own country?
