I just read an article where it was said that Man city won the league with the least tackles of any team in the Premiership. Off the ball movement has become an absolute class in the Premiership.
Rating a DM by the number of tackles seems so 1995 and maybe, just maybe that could be the reason Ndidi hardly attracts any major interest after topping the tackles statistics in consecutive seasons.
I said the same thing to tbaba1234 but he told me that the DM help to shield defenses from conceeding goals. The truth is that to remain relevant in today's game, irrespective of your position, you must be contributing something of note to the attack. Top teams value that above all else because goals win games. Gueye of everyone would have left since. It's must that top teams don't rate tackles as much as creativity and goals. Ndidi better learn the deep lying play maker role. It will help him a lot. This mechanic job he is doing week in week out is kinda outdated. Till then, he still remains above average at best

He doesn't need to be in their training to k on. Gengen pressing requires both intensity training to master and that us Liverpools style. Immediately we loose the ball, we try to win it back. It's not easy to do that without top level conditioning

When the run of games comes, the confidence returns. Look at Mahrez who benched a lot this season, his top quality did not hide in any way.

Look at Zinchenko, despite the long run on the bench, when he got his run, he excelled breathtakingly. When Foden gets his run, we would see him excel. First is to grow. Liverpool offers that more than Barcelona due to their crazy intensity training.

Finito.

Football have gone beyond the basics. For instance, Morden keepers are trained to play out from the back and evade a press, they also required to be able to use both feet. Being just a good shot stopper doesn't cut it any more.
Ditto good old fashioned DMs are almost a thing of the past. Modern managers want their teams to manage time and space. To achieve this, players are required to have quicker minds than quicker feet.
This is why tackles alone is not the yardstick to rate a world class DM. Also the ability to receive the ball at a half turn and evade a press cannot be over emphasized.

I wonder why people hail all these road side mechanics masquerading as footballers in here.

Simmy, Etebo, Ogu, Onazi, Agbo, Agu, Shehu are all carpenters. The worst of them all is Misses PenalGhalo of the CSL.

I remember calling Rohr an inept coach due to his short sightedness for preferring Simmy to Awoniyi of Nec Nijmegen, Dessers of ****, and my big brother Icon4s and co came for my head, sighting his smokescreen showing against Ibengue's Congolese side as a point grin
O boy wetin you say I do?

Teams like City obviously defend by interceptions. Ndidi's interception numbers are good as well. All he needs to do is improve on the ball.
His positioning has gotten better over the last 2 seasons.

What do you expect from a DM that plays for a team like LCFC, if not tackles and tackles upon tackles. He is good at what is required of him. Do not at all forget his high points in interceptions and ball clearances,. He is not a mechanic, as some would like to liken him, colloquially. Ndidi is an intelligent DM. His intelligence, made perspicuous in his master-class tackles, tells us one thing 'Ndidi is world class'.

This boy is a very good CM, EPL media is already tipping him to be the anchor in the cherries midfield next season. He, Dele and Michael are the midfielders I have high hopes on, going to this WYC.

Best youth player at Bournemouth, on the verge of making the first team. One to keep an eye on in this tournament.

I think that Aigbogun finally redeemed himself with his list of u20 team...particularly his midfield looks superb...

Perhaps there was a lot of noise about corruption...he went for plan b...linking all those he dropped to clubs for trials..That Bournemouth guy is damn good

Yep. I remember when Defoe said he was the one to watch when he was still at Bournemouth.
I'm still surprised we got him. This is what we should've done with Eze.
Rohr should have invited him over Nwakali.
