Over 700, 000 fans of the popular television
show, ‘Game of Thrones’ have called for a
remake of what they termed “a disappointing last
season.”

The fans are signing a change.org petition titled
“Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with
competent writers.”
The petition had garnered 736, 080 signatures at
the time of this report on Friday, and was gaining
more supporters by the second.

The petition read, “David Benioff and D.B. Weiss
have proven themselves to be woefully
incompetent writers when they have no source
material to fall back on. This series deserves a
final season that makes sense.”
HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’, which was adapted
from George R.R. Martin’s ‘A song of fire and
ice’, started outpacing the series of novels in
season six.

After the show was on hiatus for all of 2018, the
premiere of season eight in April was the most-
watched one-day event in HBO’s more than four-
decade history.

A lot of fans have described the season as
underwhelming and a poor finale to a great
show. Among the numerous issues, fans
complained about the poorly lit ‘Battle of
Winterfell’ in episode three.

They also complained about the inconsistent
storylines, poor character arcs and were outraged
when the otherwise carefully shot series
accidentally left a paper coffee cup in episode
four.

HBO acknowledged that the presence of the
disposable cup in the scene was a mistake, and
later edited it out of the episode.
In the penultimate episode of the series, which
aired May 12, Daenerys executed Lord Varys
before wiping out King’s Landing and most of its
population, even after the bells of surrender
sounded.

Many thought the massacre was completely out-
of-character for Daenerys — or at the very least
needed more of a build-up.
‘Game of Thrones’ has had an average of 43
million viewers per episode which is expected to
rise as the final episode airs on Sunday.

Most evil people like Cersei actually die a coward's death, most often while hiding or on the run. Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, Osama. The moment capture is imminent they either commit suicide, go into hiding, or go on the run.

They have book 1-5, all they had to do was build on the characters they already have and make a compelling storyline for example, Daenerys wasnt supposed to change all too soon this could have been done gradually cos she was a heroine up until season 8 episode 3 sef. The war between the living and the dead should have been the last war at Kings Landing NOT Winterfell and they owed it to the fans to have Jon Snow atleast battle the Night king. Look the night king character was more important than Cersei and all the other villains, he was the ultimate villian and his coming had been hyped from season 1 to 7, they owed it to the fans to have had that at the end and also to have had the battle for atleast 2 episodes. These are simple things that they could have easily done, they didnt need the writer to complete his books in order to do that. If u look at season 8 it had alot of inconsistencies compared to previous seasons, it's just evidence that they didnt put in much thought.

Maybe you're right, that the night king should have been the final villain..or maybe it wasn't meant to be so..remember they were always asking the question "who gets the throne after the dead has been defeated"..so that was a pointer that it will always come down to the living..

Don't mind them. They think every movie must have a satisfying ending. Don't they know that in reality, bad people don't always die a satisfying death and, in some cases, they triumph over good people? People should relax jare.

You have a point there sha. I just hope this is a cautionary tale to them when they later do the spin-off which by the way starts filming later this year and airs around 2020 or 2021.

The truth is if they remake it 100 times it will still not meet everyone's general expectations. Too many people have created their own fantasy endings to the show and are disappointed it didn't go as they imagined. Many thought Jon Snow would have an epic sword fight with the Night King. Some where expecting a gruesome death for Cersei, and now the beloved Dany has razed down King's Landing, killing innocent women and children.

The funny thing is, GOT has never gone according to expectations, right from season 1.

Book readers always try to spoil things for everyone.
I know they are sad they can’t predict events beforehand, the act always gave them a false sense of superiority.
If a book is released a few hours before a movie comes out book-gays will quickly consume it so they can nag about how the live action performance doesn’t excite them as good as its text.
For some reason they conveniently forget that only a few people read huge books — I personally will rather spend my time on more important ventures.

Secondly, yes, the expectation thing.
If this season didn’t take two full years to come out no one would have had the time to complain.
It would have expended before people could think up grievances.
All that time, like you said, made people build castles in the sky as expectations — hopes which came crashing down.
There are also a lot of people nagging because it is the cool thing to do, everyone’s doing it after all so why not.

Fans should take a chill pill and enjoy the season finale today abeg. GOT has been the greatest show because it doesn't suit everyone's narrative. Their are hundred ways the show could have ended, and all will result to this very day (fans crying for it to be rewritten); because most fans can't accept the fact that the show will end to day.

Omo I tot Sansa was a fool before ni. At the end of season 7. She show little finger pepe.

The source of trouble from the bigini to end was sir little finger.

There is too much emotional attachment to this series. Many people want it ro end the way they had dreamt it. Too bad.

However, I am a bit disappointed with how the showrunners rushed through the plots of season 8. It seemed as if fatigue was setting in and they wanted to end it.

But I am not surprised or sad about the way the story has gone. It's the game of thrones. Most endings saddens its watchers:

Ned Stark died

Khal Drogo died

The Red Wedding

Arya and Sansa's experiences

Theon's actions and redemption (there was a time the world hated him)

Cersei is deemed wicked but we forget she lost her three children. Yes, she got them through incest but the Baratheon King she loved broke her into pieces by his lack of love and respect for her. Cersei has suffered too.

Daenerys has always been emotionally unstable. Ser Barristan Selmy was worried about her state of mind. So am not surprised she torched king's landing. Most readers of the book looked forward to it.

And by all means, the ending is what GRR Martin told them. The only problem is that they came to its ending rather too fast and less effectively.

No matter what the show has done, it is no where near the masterful storytelling of the five books.

It's been a great television show.

Don't know why y'all are complaining cos from the beginning the story was based not to have a happy ending!

I know we all have varied ideas, but don't place your idea on a plank just because u wanna hold a stake at the other end. the writers were poor without guide book and that shouldn't be an excuse cos even the guide book was written by a writer.
