Nigeria currently has 43 Federal Universities. Not counting Polytechnics, Hospitals and other Federal Institutions. Plan is to use the same model on all of them eventually.
FG started with major markets like Ariara etc and it is spreading to other sectors.
Can you imagine if we have started this journey that we embark on now since 1999. Imagine where we will be now? Kudos to the Buhari administration.

Really sad that the average Nigerian youth is so narrow-minded and cheap thinking. It's safe to conclude that given the opportunity as a leader to execute this kind of project or even offer any meaningful solution, you won't be able to because of self-induced pessimism, cynism and lack of vision.

This should be the model for the future. Getting large segments of industry off the so called national grid and the centrist way we do things that seems so hard to grow beyond.

As I always say the potentials for power generation are massive. We have untapped barren wildernesses in the north where the sun is guaranteed throughout the year for solar, flood prone parts of the south where hydro is a serious but completely neglected potential and all we dance around is gas.

Even the current potential of corporate and personal generating capacity far exceeds that of the GENCOS combined and could be tapped at the distribution level through smart grids.

Has anyone asked what happens when the college is not in session. Couldn't it sell part of the1Mw cap to the local community and raise revenue that way.... we need to start thinking in this country. Government should incentify power right down to the man on the street and watch how our power needs will be met in an instant without the need for the rabble rousing of their 'World Bank' loans.

All these government this, government that is not the way to develop. It does not create an active 'can do' society. Government should merely be an organiser of society and a crucible of ideas. Let the citizens do the work. The potential is there. 3500 solar panels is community potential stuff. Many individuals and corporates already do this but the incentives and framework to commercialise it is not there.

Truth hurts my brother. But it must be told. PDP and Obasanjo especially wasted our 16 good years. just as he said, you can imagine if we had started anything meaningful in the power sector since that time, we would have been far better developed. I am convinced that before the close of buhari's second term almost all the federal institutions in the country would have sufficient power to use.

So the project should not be commissioned simply because you anticipate population explosion in the school in future? That means government should never commission any other project in this country because Nigerian population will definitely get bigger in future whereby no project commissioned today will be able to serve everybody. Let's be careful with our "I too know syndrome" because it's making some of us sound like idiots.
