I really do think that the issue of MSc abroad should be kindly put to rest. There are better candidates everywhere. Some people applied for ptdf with a strong educational background e.g first class BSc, Nigeria ; Distinction, MSc.. Uk with 2-3 publications.... One would expect these folks to be competing on the global stage yet they are still 'ptdfing' Why? Research focus and the opportunity to choose and steady their plots through ptdf funding... To flavour the whole story, some even got a unanimous nod from the panelists. These guys are on this platform, they are quiet and patiently waiting for the award list. Let's keep the conversation humble please!.

Normally, if you go above the required number of words it will indicate and you can't summit until you reduce to the stipulated number of words.

Yeah that was during the application. This time around, it's to update and the SOP has to be in PDF and they didn't specify the no of words.

I advise you stick to the 600 word limit.

A little over 600 shouldn't be a problem. They don't have time to read your SOP so I don't expect them to have time to count the words. You will talk about it and if they have any questions they'll ask.
My advise is, you should stick to what you can talk about in less than 3mins and leave references out of it.

How about you drop the link to the WhatsApp group or drop a number for them to contact. If you're scared of giving out your number you can drop an email you don't plan on using for official business. I've seen threads turn useless because someone asked people to drop numbers. The above is just my advise, but what do I know. Ciao!
