Government may not be able to do everything so your people should start by ensuring clean and healthy environment while you use the right medium to demand government presence.

Ugwuoke347:
You sound recklessly overconfident and densely irrational!
Why do you talk like that? Like Nura, the Drunkard.
Even if you have no control over what goes on in your mind, try to put some leash on yourself so that the cacophony rioting in you stays right in there!

Gburugburu owes Udenu everything!
Tell everybody I said so.
He owes Obollo-Afor (his own very local government capital) far more than he owes every other part of Enugu State.
Still tell that to everybody including your neighbours.

I will not humour you with a detailed response.
If the Ogrutes and the Ibagwas are comfortable with the environmental decay around them, Obollo-Afor people are not!
And as a matter of urgency, Obollo-Afor demands quite very sternly and vehemently her own share of government attention right now! Tell everybody that too!

Don't be silly there.
You must be idiotic not to know that under current arrangement, local governments are fiscally subsumed into state governments despite the pretence of being duly elected, and so can do very little, just as little as paying salaries!
Don't be a daftus. If you lack reasonable things to say,
stay still and chill out.
Is that clear?
After all these grammars,u have said nothing

I totally concur with you but your community should do their own part. Those environments look so filthy and government is not responsible for that

Most part of Northern enugu state has been forgotten.

Na my own side worse pass. Etteh town has no road, no hospital, no government infrastructure in the whole place. Na only election time they will come for campaign and go back. Its too bad.

MetaPhysical:
I praise your honesty and forthrightness. Trust me, governments in Nigeria are useless, same crop of corrupt politicians rule the landscape. You have to shame them publicly and draw attention to their incompetence and they will respond and do what should ordinarily have been their priority assignment. I bet you with the awareness you put out here it will soon reach government house and they will respond positively to address the issues.

You should be applauded for standing up and demanding a change. One by one, village after village, town after town, city after city, wipe out deficiencies and introduce empowerement. It will not all be done under one administration but one completed project per administration and in twenty years Obollo Afor will be transformed. Good luck!
Thanks immeasurably for adding your voice,
and for shining your light.

We actually owe ourselves the duty to hold our leaders responsive at all times.
The least we can do is to bring our needs to the attention radar of government.
For, those in government are neither omnipresent nor all-seeing.

Thanks again for seconding the intent of this thread.
Stay blessed.

Quit the clabber-blabber already and bugger off at once!

This thread is neither about me nor about you.
It is about Obollo-Afor.
You must be deranged to extract some personal "hairs" from it.

Is it gburugburu that will clean the environment for you people? ?what's the community and local government chairman doing over the dirty state of that market?

You are very correct on that.
There is poor sanitation culture in Obollo-Afor.
This is because government has never been serious about enforcement of public sanitation there.
I have twice asked a high ranking official of Udenu Local Government Council why Afor Obollo is such a pigsty of a place, and he could not say anything coherent.

The people are yet to cultivate a consciousness of environmental protection as a way of life.
Government has a great role to play by way of sensitization.
When government uplifts the environment and adds sensitization to it, the people will fall in line.

The traders there at Obollo-Afor are constantly assaulting the environment because there are no consequences to such wanton ecocidal cruelty.
The moment consequences and implications are strictly exacted, such mindless cruelty to the environment will stop.
I have on a number of occasions stopped by to physically stop people from dumping refuse by the roadside.

Nobody is blaming Gburugburu for the dirtiness of the market. Perhaps, it is the duty of the State Government to query the appropriate section or tier of government responsible for that market with respect to why things are falling apart there, and get them to do something fast.

Perhaps, you also have seen that the problem is not just dirt but also degradation and dilapidation of structures in the market.
In that regard, the buck stops squarely on the table of Enugu State Government. Local governments have not really been given free hand to run the kind of budget that will permit them to carry out massive projects. You know that is true.

But you should also know that markets fall under the local governments. .if you check very well the local government collects revenue for that market. .what have they been using the one gotten to do?I agree gburugburu has a role to play in upgrading o bollo..but the local government chairman what has he been doing? Each local government has a town planning officer/authority. .what step has the town planning authority taken to bring sanity to O bollo townhuhThere are areas gburugburu can handle but for this market local government chairman should work it out. .

most markets have unions or leaders that fix days for market cleaning. .is this being done in that o bollo market??the money these these traders pay to the market union what do they use it for? ?O bollo sure needs an upgrade to a better standard. .hope the governor continues what he has done in Nsukka in Obollo

You know what?
You are actually helping to push the points.
Nobody is making excuses for anybody.
With respect to the market, everybody knows
it is the work of Udenu Local Government.
You are very right on that.

However, where the Local Government has been reluctant to shoulder its responsibilities, the State Government has a moderating role to play.
The State Government of Enugu can give Udenu Local Government a marching order to fix Afor Obollo Market,
and it will be done outrightly especially when such marching order is backed up with proper mobilization of support.

I also went to Onitsha,
Onitsha Ado n' Idu, my place of birth.
Onitsha has really come a long way.
The commercial city has truly evolved and is still evolving.
Successive governments in Anambra State have shown pronounced interest in constant upgrade
of infrastructure in Onitsha.
Onitsha is now a beautiful place.

That is owing to the concerted efforts of their past
and present governments.
Peter Obi was a great gift to Anambra State.
His legacies are still there
solidly bearing loud testimony to good governance!
The present governor there is not doing badly at all.

I went to Onitsha to do some shopping.
And I must say that market structures
in Onitsha Main Market have also evolved.
Instead of streams of lock-up shops that used to be,
they are now putting up shopping complexes
and shopping clusters everywhere.

That is a good sign of upward movement and real growth!
Anambra is truly the light of the nation!
I doff my hat for all Anambrarians everywhere.

I took some pictures too.

The pictures below depict the kind of sights and scenes
we want to see in Obollo-Afor!
Even if government is not ready to be directly involved,
they can bring in the private sector, and do a private-public partnership where the shops are built by private investors and owned on lease.

We want a better and beautiful Obollo-Afor.
Obollo-Afor is the Onitsha of Northern part of Igboland, and so deserves special attention from both Federal and State Government.
