OP,

This people have seen it all.

People have packaged their application for like 6 months claiming salaries of up to that amount and yet disappear after being issued the visa. A big issue would be the reputation of the place where the applicant claims he works.

Having that huge amount in cash and not in a pension plan presupposes that he has enough money to settle should he decide not to come back to Nigeria.

daks02:
I think an issue visa officers have is also having a lot of money, because the VO might think if you now decide to stay behind it means that you have enough money to settle in canada with your family.
There is a story of someone on this thread that had a way over the required POF and was denied, then she reduced it and was granted. I'm just saying tho, it might not be true but it might too.

God bless you.....
Some people will just come online saying I know this I know that without having the clear picture of what is actually happening in Canada.

Some Nigerians are stuck in Canada without knowing how to figure things out.
Canadians babes sef won't even wanna date you when they know u are illegal or out of status.

Stop judging with Facebook pictures.

You've said the truth though, but you can actually convert a tourist visa into Temporary residence (work permit and study permit, but it pretty tough.

As long as you can find an employer to apply for LMIA, then you're good to go. You can apply for a "closed work permit", instead of open work permit. The person will be limited to a particular employer, since the employer is the one that got him/her the LMIA(Labour Market Impact Assessment). Like i said earlier, it pretty straight forward if you can find one, but you cannot work or school without a permit. Except on a short course of 6months of less.

Secondly, changing a tourist visa to study permit. The applicant must have a clear intention before proceeding to Canada on Tourist visa. If you've applied to study before securing the tourist visa. There is a regulation under the Canadian Immigration law "Dual Intent". The word explain itself explicitly. As long as you have mentioned it in your application or at the port of entry. You can apply for tourist visa from Nigeria, arriving at the port of entry for CBSA examination. YOU MUST MAKE THAT INTENT CLEAR THAT YOU'VE APPLIED FOR A PROGRAM OR YOU'LL APPLY FOR ONE DURING YOUR STAY IN CANADA. Make sure you have every necessary documents such as proof of funds, intent to leave at the end of your program. Everything here is based on case by case, but for study permit to be issued to a FN(foreign national), it must be submitted to any nearby Canadian visa offices for processing OUTSIDE OF CANADA. It's either a yes or no. It is very dangerous for anyone with SINGLE Entry Visa!!!. Imagine you're asked to attend an interview in the U.S and you only have one entry, that's a goner. If you're refused for the study permit, you have no fundamental reason to be allowed back into Canada. That's just the risk. If you can pay the $20,000 GIC and another one year tuition fees, provide enough proof and documents, you should be fine, but it's not guarantee.

You can study without a permit on tourist visa for a short program of six months or less. You won't be needing any permit to do this:

"Individuals do not require a study permit in order to pursue a program of study for six months or less. Courses may consist of any subject(s), and may be taken on a part- or full-time basis. In order to be deemed exempt from the requirement for a study permit, the course of study should be completed within the six month period. A visa extension will not be granted for the sole purpose of completing a short-term program.

Foreign nationals in Canada without a study permit who wish to enroll in an educational program must apply for a study permit from outside Canada. An exception may be made if the course is short-term in nature and can be completed within the original period of stay specified upon their entry to Canada.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada recommends that foreign nationals seek a study permit for a program of six months or less if they intend to work on campus or continue their studies in Canada after completion of the initial program"

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=484&top=15

it is advisable to always apply for one, but if your program is less than 6months; then you're fine. Should in case you decide to further your education after the six months program elapsed, then you must apply for one OUTSIDE of Canada. mostly, tourists are allowed to stay six months, even with multiple entry visas. Except otherwise by the P.O.E(Port of Entry) officers known as CBSA.

Again, I've only sited with a link that it's possible. Always try to apply for from your home country......................

It really long, passport wait and application processing wait are really taking long this day, They should just put the visa sticker and return the passport, just dont understand , just to put ordinary sticker for passport, it hard for them, something that takes 3 working days before now it taking weeks, or was the passport request sent by mistake, they should just sit up in that Lagos office and work.

I will be going there on Friday to check if my daughter passport is ready because i submitted 10th of May.

Hi, we got an email to come collect our passport at the VFS centre.
We applied March 19th and this is the second time we applied after the initial rejection.

The only difference is that with the first application, CIC sent us an email stating reasons why they were not issuing the visa.
This time around, we just got an email from the VFS centre to come collect our processed passport. What do you guys think?
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Dedzstar789: 6:49pm On May 22, 2019
Not sure if it was this thread I said it in. My family know someone who works at the embassy in Lagos and he said they are short on staff.

One person is apparently doing all of the printing which is why it’s taking so long. I do know of people who submitted after me that have gotten it so it’s annoying. Let’s be patient.
