nengibo:Its d same thing d guy is saying. Will oil companies now call every member of d community& start giving them money one after d other? No sir. Whatever is paid is paid thru d community leaders who sit on d money and divert 4 their own personal use. These same leaders will then instigate d ignorant people against d oil companies who will now come back& pay d leaders. And d cycle continues. Oil companies aren't an arm of govt that d people should b demanding electricity from. Oil companies pay taxes & CSR is at d discretion of d company. Its cos d people are ignorant, they should b demanding from their community& political leaders d whereabout of d funds paid them by oil companies |

GeoAfrikana:Oil companies don't just go around looking 4 who to bribe. What happens is that protests like this are organised. D oil companies call d leaders & ask 4 their demands. D leaders tell d oil companies what should b done 4 peace to reign in most cases involves money. D oil companies give d leaders d money expecting that it would b used judiciously....am sure u no how it ends |

If this Niger Delta were to be northern Nigeria, those villagers would have been like this pic. People who have their resource should enjoy it. Form Texas to Saudi Arabia to UAE, the owners of the resources have the best amenities, only in Nigeria is the case extremely different. NIGERIA has differed every logic...

nengibo:Wrong. The community leaders and youth leaders are the problem. I have seen a number of these communities were the leaders are actively stopping development. Chevron cannot build anything in that community without the concent of these leaders. And 9 out of ten times these leaders would request for the contract and not execute it or the would ask for kick backs which might be more than the cost of the contract. |

TuborTee143:True. This is happening everywhere in the Niger Delta. Take a trip to Kwale for instance. You will see able bodies men with company ID saying they are forklift driver when they cannot even drive a Wheel Barrow. But the company dear not fire them or delay their salary. When the oil stops flowing in the delta, it will be a sorry case |

If not greed from the part of Niger Delta leadership, sometimes I wonder who signs MOUs on behalf of these communities. |

More protest... They have vowed not to leave until something is done. Possibly to shutdown the flow station

nengibo:It is the people that have the problem. When you embark on the development of Hostcomms as you said, they meet you and said stop and give us the money. This protest is a mischevious one. It is one of their leaders that planted. Chevron will only deal with the Government and community leaders, so, therefore, they should o and ask them |

Stingman:Delta state enjoys 13% derivation, monthly allocation which is one of the highest with a huge yearly budget. What is the government doing with all money, they can't even develop the state and this people here instead of marching to government house in Asaba to protest, they are busy disturbing this company. This is our problem in this country, greed and always fighting the wrong person |

| Re: Protest At Chevron Flow Station In Kokodiagbene, Gbaramatu In Warri (Photos) by garfield1: 1:29pm On May 22, 2019 |
Yyeske:That is why i opened a thread calling for derivation to be given directly to the locals |
| Re: Protest At Chevron Flow Station In Kokodiagbene, Gbaramatu In Warri (Photos) by erico2k2(m): 1:30pm On May 22, 2019 |
Yyeske:research well you will see what they are doing with it. During my time in Uni, I did not pay school fees for two years during the Ibori governorship, we were getting good money as busery .Uni games people who came 1st of Delta had like 500k gift, my guy frm ondo got 30k, some change states sef that year! |

garfield1:In reality, the companies have a corporate responsibility, youths or not, These can be achieved fru loads of ways.but they hide under youths and conflicts to escape this. Trust me, nobody can stop them from building health centres, schools and portable source of water and good roads. |

qualityGod:This is true but me n you know this would not happen, we have to develop our infrastructure so that fraud is easily exposed. |
| Re: Protest At Chevron Flow Station In Kokodiagbene, Gbaramatu In Warri (Photos) by Yyeske(m): 1:40pm On May 22, 2019 |
garfield1:Is it the common man on the street that you'd give the derivation, is it not their selfish traditional and political leaders that you'd give it to? |
| Re: Protest At Chevron Flow Station In Kokodiagbene, Gbaramatu In Warri (Photos) by erico2k2(m): 1:40pm On May 22, 2019 |
TuborTee143:This will not help, why are the so-called youths not present? your guess is as good as mine. |
| Re: Protest At Chevron Flow Station In Kokodiagbene, Gbaramatu In Warri (Photos) by Yyeske(m): 1:45pm On May 22, 2019 |
erico2k2:Go ask people in those oil producing areas what is called "deve", development levy. The locals would want deve before the oil companies do any of the things you listed above. |
| Re: Protest At Chevron Flow Station In Kokodiagbene, Gbaramatu In Warri (Photos) by garfield1: 1:47pm On May 22, 2019 |
Yyeske:No,you give it to both.in each community, the money will be paid to each family equally while the rest will be kept in a development account for amenities. For instance, delta receives 20bill monthly derivation.10bill is disbursed to all the 100 oil producing communities at 100 mil per community.ugborodo receives 100 mil monthly.out of 100million,50mil is kept aside for infrastructure while 50 mil is shared to the 50 families in that village.each family will receive 1 million monthly. think this is he best way forward |

TuborTee143:I served in ndokwa east lga and all what was written here were the basic truth...i can't say much... he touched everything so what I can say is that the angst should be directed to the community leaders of these places... |

Yyeske:Go and check well frm my post, Im from the core Niger Delta.I know what Deve is, I'm only saying if the coys mean to do what is in their compact they can.deve or no deve |
| Re: Protest At Chevron Flow Station In Kokodiagbene, Gbaramatu In Warri (Photos) by erico2k2(m): 1:53pm On May 22, 2019 |
emmanuelpopson:This is true, but do you think the so-called community leaders care?I reckon the coy should just go ahead and do the basic, F the leaders, |

TuborTee143:This is the gospel truth. I have withdrawn and boycotted all itsekiri meetings and agitation because they are nothing more that money sharing and greed. Developmental issues are never discussed. That is why I always say it is people who have never seen an oil sleek or oil spill before that go around shouting resource control or our oil. Not that I am against resource control, resource control should be about using money for development and not dashing monarchs, leaders, elders and youths money. Monies which they end up fighting themselves over. |
