Those Aba business men you are condemning are 80% better than you at the moment. U are settling for a life of 3k per day which is a good one but the wickedness of using the car anyhow and calling the man to fix up shows a great deal of wickedness.when you buy your own you will understand. Why are you living an ordinary life when you can honestly work hard and live an extraordinary one?

WTF!!! Kindly quote the right person mbok

The reason you have to accept a trip to lasu, is because you are mugu in the job, as for the insult, is part of the job.. Just accept it by blowing kiss to those girls.

You will meet 95% of nice riders, only 5% are complainant like classicdonsimon

This explains why the white man was able to take our people out to Europe as Slaves through Badagry. Some people just have the wrong mindset.

Young man, your mindset is so wrong.

This is a 50/50 situation or better yet necessary evil . Maybe if the government provided jobs this will not happen, maybe similar apps that are home grown are not supported by Nigerians themselves eg ogataxi how many nigerians support them compare to uber? And also if uber decides to park up and leave now, the unemployment rate will spark up .. So which way now my brother.. People that are complaining about uber is still doing uber .. If I decide now to come up with an app like uber, with better price for all.. How many of you will support me, most of you will rather support the white company than a local one .. Most of you will say why should u make me rich?

Nigerian's let stop deceiving others and tell them the Truth.
I am an Uber and Taxify driver. I owe my ride and I driver by myself at my free period.
Let's get it straight.
These companies are just making huge amount of money for themselves without considering the drivers, they only care about the rider.

Now let's analyse these points:

1. Uber has slashed their riders fee to 40% in order to get the riders to keep coming back, that is to say if a Ride was calucated to be N1,000 in 2017, now it's N600. The 40% slash is not going into the drivers pocket, it's a discount that goes into the thin air. Inside that 600 that was charged, 25% goes to uber and 75% goes to the driver. Let share it, uber takes 150, driver takes 450(fuel, maintenance, car owners money, pocket money and your feeding included).

2. Considering Lagos Traffic still these companies make fares look very miserable at the end of a journey.
E.g. A trip from Ojuelegba to Lasu from was calculated to be 2,600 although there was no Traffic but the road is terrible. Before I ended the ride the lady was like "I hope it won't exceed 5,000" in my mind I smiled because I was expecting to see more than 5k. Funny enough I saw 2,600 with my mortuary standard AC and fuel, I was MAD. Can you believe that on my way coming back there was no order going back to Surulere from that zone I had to run empty and was in a traffic for almost 2hrs and I got to my office by 10:14am. This is ridiculous I said, I laid a complaint and they told me that the fare was calculated appropriately. Ok I chill.

A normal Taxi will consider a lot of things into factor before taking you to that place:
A. Distance
B. Traffic
C. Chances of not getting a rider back
D. Fuel
E. Stress
F. Vehicle maintenance. Etc
G. Don't forget oh! He is not putting Ac for you.
H. Accident (God guide us)

Driving is strictly a mental stress job, in doing mental stress work you age quickly and that is while 96% of drivers in this country grow white hairs quickly. It's not as a result of age it's the mental stress attached to it.
*Foreign companies pay more on a mental stress job because they understand the predicament attached to it*

Second instance
How can you charge 1800 from the same Ojuelegba to ogba in Ikeja after heavy traffic in the evening. This is really madness.
Come on, I understand that you need to stay in business but not at the drivers detriment, because they are really the finger that feeds you companies.
We all understand how heavy traffic is in the evening from 4-8pm and you still give funny bills. These riders comfort is really guaranteed why is the comfort not reflecting in their bills?

3. Drivers account for 35k-40k a week to the car owners. I want to ask, all these non-calculating drivers that accept such deals, is it the same business they are doing with it or are they running inter-state because that is better.

A lot of these guys don't seem to have much responsibility, most of them live in someone's house and pay no rent and they take care of themselves alone. Please you should think twice let's work something out.

Maximum you can make a week after all the hard work if you follow Uber and Bolt rules is 35-40k per week after expenses, you pay car owners 35k you are left with 5k. Hmmmmm! how can you rely on <10k per week for a mentally drained job like driving?

4. A typical nigeria don't read T/C before accepting, I accepted anyways but I am seriously complaining to them but believe me a lot of people are ready to accept even if it kills them. So the company feels reluctant about my complaints.

5. Friday, Saturdays and Sundays, are peak periods Yes I agree. My people don't consider a lot of factors, car repairs likewise maintenance are very expensive. Your stress, your life span?

Americans understood these fact which I know that our own conditions are far worst than theirs and they still went on strike. My brother if we strike for 1 month alone, these guys will be greatly affected and think twice.

99% of Nigeria females stays at the back and complain with their bad mouth, these are girls who don't even have Ac in their houses and when they come in they talk to you like their personal drivers with heavy authority. Lol, but this is one of the side attractions.

Me and you have decided to work hard and that doesn't mean that we should work our Ass out to make very little money. Working hard is good but working smart is fun. Together we can works wisely.

Bring in your experiences let's shear and tackle issues.

Thanks and drive safe.

You can register on our new international app too. 0% rates for 6 months and less than 10% after that. Striking hurts income but I am offering a viable alternative. Contact me via WhatsApp on 08085404500.

Improvement doesn't exist in some people's dictionary. Uber can never be more profitable than it is already.

It is not making a profit globally actually. What is keeping it going is additional capital from investors it keeps raising.

Okay, so I just walked up to a site labourer at Ajah and asked how much they earn daily. Guess what? 3k.

So if this guy leaves his labourer work that let's him take home 3k for uber that gives the same or slightly higher take home, is he wise or foolish?

Personally, I would stay on the labourer job and learn from the bricklayers how to build properly, maybe in two years I could graduate from labourer to bricklayer.

Driving uber for two years stagnates your personal growth for two years. No valuable skill learned for two years, no reasonable experience gathered in two years. No real prospect for growth even if you save 3k/day.

Just me thinking out loud sha.

And have you checked uber's ultimate goal? To develop driverless cars that will eliminate the need for them to partner with car owners/drivers. In other words, to eliminate drivers completely.

So the current model is just a means to an end. Drivers in America know this and the basis of their last strike was for them to be made full time employees of uber with health and retirement benefits instead of just partners, since uber sets all the condition.

The result of the protest and lawsuit? Uber committed $20million in bonus and special packages for their drivers in America just so they can go PLC.

Even this does not assure there will be no further law suits challenging their business model. In 9ja, we are sleeping hard. Even the slightest request, we can not make from these companies when we have so much collective power.

Well in that case ,maybe you should trade places with the guy that makes 10k a month. At the end of the day ,if uber decides to park up ,that will be at least give or take 2k jobs lost .. So what will now happen? If I decide to create my own app now like uber with better price and uber standard. Will you now patronise me ? Even the oil that I am selling, I market it to you and said you go buy, that was over two years ago .. Now my point is that Nigerians feel that they know too much and they can't make another man rich ontop their own money.. Nigerians hate to see other Nigerians grow ... ..that been said I respectfully and aggressively disagree with your point.

I can't trade places with the guy earning 10k, that was me when I was 17yrs old doing phone call business. How he ended up earning 10k/month is his sole responsibility.

The ehailing industry is well established in Nigeria already. People are so accustomed to it especially the riders. There will be more than enough alternatives to uber, they will not even be missed one bit.
