Nigerians and sentiments, why didn't this man raise objection when he invited Saraki? Saraki also heads another arm of government. Southerners are too meddlesome and tribalistic 2 Likes |

Ferdinandu:You just aided my level of knowledge. I just checked and that of America is a life time appointment. Can you see why there won't be run for bribery if a case is taken to the supreme court even if the president was involved? The incumbent was appointed since 2005. Trump doesn't have any right to withdraw his appointment. He would stop being the CJN in conditions that he dies, impeached and convicted or retired. There is something wrong with Nigeria. 1 Like |

GrabHisBalls:when you're making a comparison, make sure you know what you are saying. everywhere in the world, the executive appoints the judge. the American you're talking about, can you tell me who appointed Judge Brett Kavanaugh to replace Judge Anthony Kennedy when the later retired last year? we shouldn't make issue out of everything, buhari broke fast with head of legislatives last week and no uproar, how is this any different? it's just a tradition. |

Fadelex:Why would he break fast with the head of the judiciary when they're meant to be independent? This is actually something to be worried about. I wanted to ignore you, but so I clarify issues. There was no place on my post where I stated that the CJN of America isn't on appointment, but rather I asked questions and made comparisons since we practice same system of government. I had to go on wikipedia and what I found cleared my doubts. This country may never change 'till a lot in the constitution is amended. Each president in America doesn't just go about appointing a CJN, and CJNs don't go about dinning with presidents as speculations would be made. What were their discussions centered on? Do you know? If given bribe, will he say "No?" considering that his appointment will be on the line? These are questions you should ask. The incumbent has been there for over 14yrs. That's something to sleep on. |

GrabHisBalls:CJN is not actually a political appointment per say, it just happen that we have retirement age as 70 and when the present CJN attains 70 the next in line is nominated by the president to be confirmed by the Senate. In US, they don't have a retirement age for Justices of the supreme court, it is a lifetime appointment. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 86years old and was appointed in 1993 by Bill Clinton. their own is even worse because Chief justice can actually be appointed without recourse to seniority. e.g the present CJ of supreme court of United States was never on the bench of supreme court when he was nominated by George Bush in 2005. in all, we shouldn't read too much to breaking of the fast. I still don't support the sacking of Onnoghen because it has set a very dangerous precedent. |

Acting Chief Justice have clearly shown he is partisan and will do everything to ensure that Buhari's opponents will not justice. Top judicial officers have no business romancing politicians. They are supposed to be seen as unbiased and unpartisan. He should step down. |

That was how we screamed that the now confirmed worst inec chairman in the history of the nation was a closet APC apologist/supporter when he was exposed wearing their cap but some people never believed, but look at the mayhem of an election he conducted. Rubbish country. This country has been rigged never to function as a normal nation should. 1 Like |
