Because they can do it as they speak to the witness. It means that if that department or small village has no expert to do computer it can still be done soonest from fresh memory of witness. Computer can be used later.

They can, yet in over fifty years have never released a sketch of a criminal to the public.. Releasing of a suspect's sketch to the American public is an everyday thing not ro mention an intergtal part of every investigation. Profilers get info from witnesses and sketch out a suspect. Most often a close copy of the suspect.That's not a modus operandi of the Naija Police Force ..

Not sure how effective overall but it depends on how well the witness can describe the culprit.

But there was a fake one in Charleston, South Carolina, USA over 20 years ago. A lady, Susan Smith, pushed her car with her two little boys into a lake and accused a black guy snatching her car at gunpoint. The e-fit sketch of a black guy wearing a woolly hat could have been anybody.

From further questioning by a black Policeman made her story look incredulous. White officers totally believed her story. But the black officer persisted and she finally confessed.

Got got rid of her kids to please her new boyfriend who didn't want any kids. She then took police to the lake to show where she sank the car.

If not one innocent black, probably previously, arrested for carjacking in the area, could have been arrested for it.
