To root your phone you need to unlock bootloader but that doesn't mean you must change your rom. Whenever I unlock bootloader I'll first flash in xiaomi.eu rom use it for like a month or so before I try other roms like Pixel Experience, Bootleggers and Lineage OS and maybe CrDroid and Masik... But all these will when I'm done with exams.

My exact plan, but unfortunately Note 7 has little or no official custom ROM Support

If you buy the K20 Pro for instance, you will be certainly contented with it for at least 2 years. It is a pretty complete phone.

Sadly, I think it will reach $400 upon all the hype as a "Flagship Killer".

N.B. i came to this thread to learn about Xiaomi because i actually wanted to get a Redmi but after doing much research both on youtube and from complaints of people on this thread, it's so obvious that Xiaomi is over rated. Really no difference between them and tecno or infinix. It's an insult for one to even try and compare Xiaomi to samsung.
