MadamExcellency:
Reform Abia State civil and public services including the overburdening parastatal including Abiaploy and the Medical Institute that siphons the State resources.

The Abia State citizens should be ready to pay more in taxes and levies
bad leadership is the main issue..how can they increase taxes while salary is still constant

Osun state is bankrupt, to all intents and purposes.

A state of economic emergency should be be established and the governors of the non-viable states replaced by receiver-managers. I guess only a military regime can do that though. . .

Glorified local governments. We are supposed to have a maximum of 10 states. They should be collapsed asap. But it won't happen cos somebody is benefiting from this current arrangement.
I have been saying this and some people think we should have more states instead.
You are being generous with 10.
SE should have 1, SS 1, NE 1, NC 1, NW 1, SW 1. Then with local government chairmen managing districts.
This means we prune down from 37 useless state governors to just 6 governors.
100 senators to maybe 4 per state ~ 30 senators.
300 Members to 150 or even lesser.
Only if we know resources to manage this governors ( Salary, Allowance, aids, girlfriends, wife's, deputy governors, the list goes on and on.)

I am shocked to see the figures ascribed to Lagos. 530b domestic debt and over $1.4b external debt.

Osun and Ogun. May God have mercies on these our leaders and touch their heart.
In the grand scheme of things, Lagos debt is low.

GOOD SUGGESTION. But our elections 'd be more bloody. Imagin Tiv, Igala, Berome, fulani etc in one state! Resource control is a more workable solution. Let each state generate and spend its revenue. Any other reforms would be manipulated at the level of implimentation

It won't be general election like it is now, it will be district by district just like the US.

Lagos is not that big a deal considering their massive revenue streams. States like Osun should be more concerned - generating very little in revenue and yet, shouldering so much debt. Bankruptcy looms.

Akwa Ibom - N198 billion

Cross River - N167 billion

Rivers - N225 billion

Bayelsa - N130 billion
Look at the highest debtor states in Nigeria, Osun with N148 billion still delivered more infrastructures than all of them combined, including the whole of SW combined, but ipobs are shedding crocodile tears for Osun. You better worry about your stone age states with nothing to show for your taxes and allocations.

Why are the debt profile for 9 states not updated? Did they not submit or did DMO just get tired.

Some States are seriously sinking in debt

Domestic and foreign debts
Lagos state. After afonjas' claim that Lagos is richer than Africa and Asia combined, they owe the highest loan.
