An attack aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force has bombed Bula Korege area of Bornu State on the fringes of Sambisa Forest, during a meeting of Boko Haram Terrorists.

The attack which were coordinated by the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole, reportedly killed scores of the insurgents.

The Air force said on Monday that the insurgents were attacked on Saturday, following "successive days of intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Missions, coupled with human intelligence reports."

Buildings were discovered by the military surveillance within the settlement used as logistics base from where the insurgents launched attacks against troops of the Nigerian Army and civilians.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commondore Ibukunle Daramola who confirmed the air strikes in a release said the NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, would sustain its operations against the Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East.

In his words, " The ATF had decimated a location at Bula Korege ojbthe fringes of Sambisa Forest being used by the Boko Haram as a meeting venue. The attack was conducted on Saturday following successive days of intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions, coupled with human intelligence reports.

" A fighter aircraft attacked the hideout, scoring hits within the target area and leading to significant degrading of the Boko Haram structures as several terrorists were also killed. "

At that level na pure politics. The position is highly political, in Nigeria nobody sends merit oo.
CAS maybe elevated to CDS..
The post of the CDS, COAS, CAS and CNS are selected based on the President 's inclination and serve at his discretion.
Yes they are indeed political.
A serving officer if he serves with distinction can expect to get to the rank of a General
One Star Being Brigadier General.
The route from Brig to Maj Gen.is attainable but is steep .
There are only 2 persons in the NA that have the rank of Lt.Gen (Buratai) (COAS) and Gen (Olonishakin) CDS.
It is expected that both will be retired
They are both within the 35-40 year Mark.
One of the Chiefs will be selected.
Buratai has groomed at least 4 that have been given prominent roles.
Again it will be PMB will have the final word.
The CAS ( Abubakar) will either be retired or be made the CDS..
The CNS will be retired.
The NSA ( Monguno) will be retired.
It is expected that the Defence Minister will be retired.
Expect changes to be announced in June 2019.

Buratai has to go, he is a huge failure.

The other day he was seen wasting tax payers' money to launch a book written by a foolish *ss licker titled "Legend of Buratai".

What a joke!

Lobbying to have an extension of their appointment? That's a joke gone too far. Nigeria is facing so many security threats and they are still lobbying to continue? If I were the C-in-C it shows that they are enjoying something else other than work. GMD NNPC also lobbying for extension.

Dispite the presence of two S-300 systems close to Damascus and Tartus the Syrian airspace is still a playground for the Israeli Air Force.

This highlights the need for an African defense framework. Radical jihadism is an international menace that must be fought collectively, from Mali to Cameroon, we need to expand the concept of the MNJTF into a West African coalition force.
