It's natural for a fan of a beloved tv show to be disappointed by a lackluster finale, esp when they had had to wait two whole years for it. You can't begrudge a disgruntled fan for wanting a do-over.



Hmmm, I'm triggered but I'm gonna be chill, because I respect your opinions.

Speaking for myself, I realistically wasn't expecting Jon to kill the NK, nor ascend to the Iron Throne. Thanks to watching a lot of mysteries, I've become well acquainted with the notion of red herrings in storytelling. I suspected Jon would be a red herring when he came back from the dead in season 7. I knew his larger than life presence in the primary plot line would sway the audience in his favor, thereby, giving the plot enough breathing room to manoeuvre, and thus, create an "unexpected" plot twist. I was fully expectant that he will be usurped by someone close to him, someone like Dany perhaps?

You know what I didn't expect? I didn't expect him to kill Dany, and I sure as hell didn't expect him to be sentenced to the Night's watch. I mean, after having brought people together, and motivated them to fight for their lives, he got sent back to Night Watch just like that to forever be Jon_fucking Snow? WTF?! And you called that a befitting ending?? Killing him off in an epic battle would have been a more worthy sendoff IMO. Such a lame-ass writing.

Still boils down to happy or better ending many people expected, but I get your point. The ending for Jon was disappointing, especially having toiled all through the seasons, waking up from the dead, fighting so many battles, taking Winterfell from Ramsay and uniting all other kingdoms, only to end in an unceremonious position at Night's Watch. He deserved better, way better than the insignificant ending they gave him, but going the poor judgment of DnD, that was the only possible outcome for Jon Snow since the Unsullied would never be at peace with the other kingdoms if Bran had pardoned Snow fully with all the benefits that comes with it.

Another thing worth noting is Dany doesn't deserve what the writers did to her. They turned her into her father out of the blue, and then killed her off like a dog. After all the_bullshit about being a fair queen and whatnot, they completely chucked her character development out the window, and turned her into a genocidal maniac. How does that make sense? As lame-ass writing as it gets, man.

I agree with you on this because I was peeved that due to the short episodes, there's NO character development at all. Things were just unraveling fast. Even though Dany's obsession with the throne and her past antecedents of crushing her enemies were the seeds that laid the foundation DnD built her sudden change evil change on, the short time it took her to turn full-blown Cersi-like evil was too short. If DnD had thought about this ending for Dany, then common sense dictates that they'd have started earlier in the past seasons to unravel the evil queen they suddenly turned Dany to within two episodes.

They certainly got it wrong on that one and made people that loved Dany hate her all of a sudden. Doesn't make sense. They're trying to bring a twist into the whole story and ended up ruining it.

Also, Cercei didn't deserve to die so quickly, esp when you consider the fact that she's responsible for more than 50% of deaths in the show. I expected her to be defiant in a slow painful death, cuz she had always struck me as that kind of woman, not cowering in fear in a quick death.

If you had had to wait for TWO YEARS for an epic, but bittersweet ending as was PROMISED, but instead, got a mediocre ending that wasn't nearly a shade of sweet as it was bitter, what would be your reaction? Yeah, I know, you'd be raving about it and dissing unsatisfied fans. I understand HBO rushed the whole thing due to budgetary reasons, but at least, they should have put more effort in the season finale. The dire ending left a sour taste in my mouth.

Many people wanted Cersei tortured and given the most haunting of deaths for her tyrannical ways, me inclusive, but to be fair to DnD even though their rushed story denied us that dream, not all tyrants are humiliated like we expect. Take for a example, someone like Hitler. Even some African dictators have gotten away after committing crimes by going into exile and living till the day of their death. So, while Cersei's death was too easy and stupid, it's not far-fetched either. My major anger in Cersei's death was that she's made to be look like an angel in order to make Dany the evil queen who deserves to die as well. This why the cause of all the things wrong with GoT final season is the short episodes and HBO and DnD deserve the total blame.

Two years is more than enough to come up with a better script and longer episodes for proper character development, than the short rushed story they gave us. In all, you some valid points that have made realize things should've ended in a much better way than how season 8 ended. At the end, I think DnD ruined what would've been a perfect ending to a magnificent story.

Well, at least, I have the Netflix medieval fantasy, The Witcher, to look forward to. Also, Amazon Prime's Lord of The Rings television adaptation is expected to premier next year.

honestly,right from time,I've never joined the dany bandwagon and definitely never saw her as a fair and righteous person as most people proclaim...give a man power and see his true nature...in the long run,dany is a kindred spirit with cersi,there are so many familiarities and circumstances that forged them into what they've become, but saying that dany was a just queen even before the madness episode is a bit far fetched...I personally have felt that she would be a tyrant if not closely marked...

As for cerci,I knew she wouldn't die a painful death,from when lady olenna died on her own terms,I knew that the slow and painful death wouldn't befall her as others expected....

But overall,I I'd rate this season 8......6/10

I saw reasons why people were angry, and I quiet agree, but I didn't agree fully with everything. For example, I'm not disappointed at how Dany ended up, but rather at how fast she turned to a full-blown Cersei. The signs have always been there but the directors foolishly changed her very quickly within 2 episodes alone. Common sense dictates they'd have slowly unraveled her, and this would've been possible if there were longer episodes to systematically and slowly turn Dany to the heartless and wicked queen she turned out to be. DnD messed the season up by forcing everything into 6 episodes.
