Yes you can lay the blocks tomorrow. I have cast and laid blocks on a ground beam same day. Only made sure the formwork was strong

The details is not complete.
*how many doors openings
*how many windows openings
*how many columns (if any)
Meanwhile iron rod of 12mm is around 2300-2500 per length
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by megacontrol(m): 10:34am On Jun 01, 2019
good.

i went to one site and found about 4 different gravel types/sizes.
i can remember some mentioned as 3/4" down, 1/2" and more interesting is the one called "rice".

had a chat with the engineer and he said they use different one for different casting. what i found interesting is that they don't use the same granite for slab and columns.

is this valid or just down to preference?

Good morning sir, painters would charge between 10 to 15k for a 2 bedroom flat depending on size, number of colors and bargaining power of the client and around 8k for self contain.
As regards paint, it depends on the type you want to use.

Many of us don’t pay attention to the general notes on our structural design, it is always stated there by the structural engineers. For example, you can’t use 3/4” for casting of parapet.

Hi Guys,

I need advice from those who are well versed in building.
I want to construct a three(3) storey build with H or I-Beam with concrete for the pillars and small I-Beam for the floors instead of the usual concrete and rod. I know H/I-Beam is stronger than concrete with rod but i need validation. Has someone done similar job before? What is the cost like?

Thanks in anticipation.

How to measure the quantity of your sand and granite.

How to measure the quantity of your sand and granite.

There are two ways to do this

1. If the sand/granite was supplied in your presence.
Measure the length, breadth and height of the tipper bucket to get the volume supplied.

That is, Volume = length x breadth x height

Tonnage = Volume x 1.31

For example, 5tonnes tipper =3.81cubic meter x 1.31 = 4.99 tonnes

2. If the sand/granite was supplied before you got to site.

Volume =(B) Base x (H)Height
B is the base where the sand covered
H is the Height of the sand

For example,
For 10tonnes tipper, Volume = 7.63cubic meter

10tonnes = Volume x 1.31
= 7.63 x1.31
= 9.99 tonnes

the cost would depend on the design, is the building for commercial or residential use?
Steel structures are stronger but not cheap.
Reason is labour for structural steel works ain't cheap same with material.Transporting stanchions & other structural materials from point of purchase is would cost more.

Note: With structural steel construction is faster , but would require the use of plants for hoisting, cutting, transportating and power.

if you have an existing design, you can forward to me if you need a breakdown.

My brothers, many thanks for the reply. The building will be for residential use, and i do not have any plan yet. Am still looking at the cost implication. The plan i will choose will depend on the design (concrete vs H-Beam) consideration.

Thanks to professional in the house,
OP please beware online of prices some are for propaganda and some just post while not updating with current price .
Secondly : Quote is fear but it looks unprofessional
Then NOTE: If u deal with this kind of carpenter their would probably be some wahala. Why because the carpenter is just giving you a quote to get the job while you engage in additional cost rather the work would abandon. Expect you are to provide planks .
