If you support the return of Saturday sitting at home and some government officials steal money in the name of sanitary inspection, you are very dull. Tell me which mega city world over that ground their economy for one useless 3hrs exercise? I thought this Sanwo guy has something upstairs. What is the sense in cleaning for 3 hour and dirty the city for 720 hours (24hrs x 30days)? The government should explore modern approach to environmental management and forget about 1980 idea in 2019. |

Hell NO! We love useless PR exercises instead of facing the serious business of governance and developing a viable daily sanitation architecture...SMH > |

Amitez:A valid point you made, its an issue the governor wants public opinion before any action |

Craziestgirl:You did not read this part: The court held that there is no law in force in Lagos State by which any citizen could be kept indoors, compulsorily. All Sanwo need to do is introduce a bill to that effect and that judgment will become nul. |

Xisnin:Is a law that keeps citizens indoors compulsorily constitutional? Restriction of movement during environmental sanitation ‘unlawful’ – Court |
| Re: Lagosians Do You Support The Return Of Monthly Sanitation Exercise by Xisnin(m): 12:50pm On Jun 02, 2019 |
wirinet:Yes, it is. There is freedom of movement, yet governors impose curfew when necessary. There is also freedom of speech in the constitution but laws can be made to punish unwanted speech. Constitution was written by humans for humans and not given by some god. The Lagos state house of assembly can pass a bill to that effect and it will be legal. |

Xisnin:Curfews are temporary emergency powers during a breakdown of law and order, it doesn't need to be legislated upon. Why are you arguing blindly when the court has already said it is unconstitutional. The best the Lagos state government can do is appeal up to the supreme Court. Meanwhile, there must be a reason Fashola, a SAN decided not to appeal. |

Return of monthly sanitation will bring so much sanity and cleanliness to the state, since the month it was stop, logos as been dirty more than any other state in the country. Saturday Sanitation day always force resident to stay at home n clean there environment. It will really help the state if they can bring it back |

gbolah1:Are you guys deaf or blind. The case has already been decided by the courts. It's unconstitutional. |

A court of law stopped the sanitation in lagos. Its violation of right https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2016/11/08/no-more-environmental-sanitation-in-lagos-appeal-court-orders/ |

wirinet:There is no point continuing this conversation since you are confusing a government directive with state law. From your link. Justice Ugochukwu Ogakwu of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division held that in the absence of a written law prescribing the same, the governor’s directive for people in Lagos State to stay at home and not to move about thereby restricting movement of persons in Lagos State within the hours of 7.00am to 10.00am on the last Saturday of every month was unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional.I suggest you stop misleading people with your misrepresentation of the appeal court case. Don't bother replying. I am out! |

Xisnin:Na wa o! You people just argue senselessly based on pure ignorance. Why did you think the environmental sanitation exercise was abolished in Lagos? Do you think the lagos state government under Fashola on its own decided to just stop the exercise? It was the court that declared the law unconstitutional, null and void. I remember Fashola said he would appeal, I don't know if he actually did. I quoted the report of a Federal High Court ruling and you are showing me a completely unrelated report of a court of appeal judge opinion ( I am not sure it's a ruling). Until this judgement is upturned by the supreme Court, there is nothing Governor Sanwo-olu can do. |
