Except you're driving very late in the night, you can't maintain 100km/h on that bridge for long. That bridge is always busy. Nigerians drive recklessly when they see good roads.

It doesn't have 2b at night. D bridge is never jammed on both sides except there is something obstructing traffic. If u driving from island 2 iyanaworo in d morning, u will b driving against traffic. It's usually very free. While its those going 2d island from iyanaworo that will experience traffic. In d evening beginning from 6, d roles are reversed

I think Speed Limit devices should be erected on strategic places on the bridge and defaulters should be made to pay through their noses...With special Road Safety stands mounted on each exit point to catch and fine those who traveled beyond 100km/h while on the bridge.

Saturdays and Sundays are usually free. You can even do a 120km/hr and maintain it. If you drive around 4am too, it is usually free by then.

100km/h is not too much on the 3rd mainland bridge. It is a misinformation to say that the speed limit is 70km/h. I know I sometimes do 110, 120 but 100 is not too much.

Puleeeaasse! We have smooth roads where drivers speed without accident.

What speed can u even engage in without meeting traffic in Lagos sef?

I feel the marine spirit from the ocean is at work ni or Lagos drivers dont go to driving school or the stress of living in Lagos catches up with them making them sleep off while driving.

I've experienced a driver sleeping while driving o, that shii ain't funny

Y didn't u ask d driver y he was sleeping? So when drivers sleep off on d highway where there's no water around them, what spirit is responsible 4 that?

Then YOU are part of the problem...
Highway Code is a general guide, the REAL speed limit is what is actually signposted on each road or bridge.

That is why I said I know I sometimes do 110, 120(which I am guilty). 100 is the highest and not 70 as informed by the OP. Even before doing 110 , 120, I knew it was above the limits.

Hahahahaha. The reaction time is why you should not do so much in case anything happens. The speed at which you move also depends on a whole lot of facttors like the type of car you drive , how streamlined is your vehicle , driver's experience and expertise and so many more but it is better to be safe than sorry. Speed thrills but it also kills.

Abegi, enough with superstition... undecided

The reality is that many Nigerian drivers are semi-literate or even illiterate...
Even the literate ones have to be properly taught how to drive when they relocate abroad.

The temptation to over speed on 3rd mainland bridge is real esp when the road is free as it was on Sunday afternoon as I was driving the car just dey bounce and I dey enjoy the thing until I had to caution myself oo
Many people don't even know they are over speeding when the bridge is traffic free..that road sweet to drive seriously!
Caution is needed
Safe trip to us everyday

Yes people over speed especially the mumu hargad ugly danfo buses. Some Nigerians like to suffer intentionally. You see a bus that is bringing out so much smoke, looking very hargard, dirty, shapeless and bent to one side with the seats looking torn and you still enter it because you claim you are rushing. At the end of the day you put yourself in trouble. Even if they don't have accident, you'll stink of exhaust smoke by the time you get to your destination.

Some funny Toyota corrola and camry drivers too are always speeding something is chasing them. Toyota corrola wey nor balance for ground, dem go dey speed much speed until them lose control get accident.
If you are going to speed anyhow, ensure you are driving a solid car and you know what you are doing.

70 what, I don’t think I have seen this though but besides, it’s almost rare to drive on this speed when the bridge is Free, when the road is free, some do even 140km/hr - crazy. I can’t remember driving at 70km/h on free days though, you just can’t, but don’t exceed 100km/hr

All the bridges in Yorubaland and hausaland are built with the blood of innocent Biafrans. You remember 3×Rs propaganda after the 1970s Biafra ceasefires.

You all want to enjoy your Yoruba bridges while you destroyed Biafrans bridges? Really?

There should be speed camera place on every 2km of the center of the road to capture those running above the speed limit and prosecutors should stay at the end of the bridge to arrest offenders

If we say we will shut down the bridge for our people to do some rituals to the water deities now....na una go dey cry say its backward, its ancient, its archaic, it will inconvenience. The truth of the matter is this is not a short span bridge. This bridge crosses over more than one body of water but you can't tell if you are not knowledgable about the history of the many ebutes that bank these waters at different points. This long bridge is crossing territories that are sacred. The sacredness is violated everyday. Govt should talk to traditional rulers so they can bring out Yemoja cult and do the do!

Though, wisdom is the right application of knowledge they say... every body has the knowledge that "over-speeding can kill" but in a situation whereby one does not apply this knowledge, then there is no wisdom... We should not be "Folorunsho to n fi okun ogede gun ope" please let someone help interpret that yoruba adage in English.
