wirinet:Wow! Journalists defending the rights of other journalists to exercise their constitutional rights? What next? The Nigeria Labour Congress would start defending the labour rights of Nigerian workers? > |

9jaRealist:The subject matter is Nigeria's broadcasting code. Did AIT violate it or not? Should the broadcast code be expunged from our statutes. If you don't want it, petition your house member to raise the motion to repeal the law on the floor. |

wirinet:Business does not operate (or exist) in a vacuum... Doing business in a poor location is different from doing it elsewhere, and neither can business be divorced from social issues. We truly have to start telling ourselves (or each other) the unvarnished truth... Not least because it is said that the first step towards a solution is admitting the problem. Burying our heads is a recipe for disaster. > |

wirinet:The broadcast code is SUBORDINATE to the Nigerian Constitution... The Constitution GUARANTEES the freedom of opinion and the right to own/establish a medium to freely express such opinion (Ch. 4, s.39). > |

wirinet:Let’s not conflate issues, because that would be her personal opinion (not mine)... But you are wrong to contend that business and politics or social issues are mutually exclusive. While you have to ask Nancy to explain herself, my guess nonetheless would be that the logical thought is that if a population is satisfied with the political status quo, any significant change in its socio-economic conditions would be highly unlikely to follow. Just a guess though! > |

Abeg those comparing AIT with CNN should stop. However the American government chooses to run their government is up to them. Maybe their laws give them the freedom to do whatever they want to do. But this Nigeria, we have our own rules. So as long as you are in Nigeria we must abide by the rules, if you feel they don't favour you, there are other countries to migrate to. |

What's this argument all about sef, of these 3 stations AIT, Channels and TVC, Channels is the most balanced in reporting news, AIT is pro PDP and TVC is pro APC but you never would see or hear inciting comments on the other two except for AIT and that is against the code of broadcasting in Nigeria. AIT has been warned several times but it still goes on with it. Many people would've noticed on some other local stations that the presenter usually stop a guest whenever they want to veer off a topic or start some unnecessary name calling but AIT never cautions its guests and I believe the station deserves what it got finally. |

9jaRealist:i don't mind been wrong buh unfortunately i am not, first & foremost a broadcasting corporation is not a seperate entity from its employee/reporter/correspondents. In us broadcast content are not regulated like you rightly stipulated, cnn/acosta & kaakaki of ait offence are the same ...there exhibitions can cause disaffection or embrass an individual, it can incite rage or panic which violates section 5.6.2 of nbc codes but CNN operate under a liberal code, how we live here might be a taboo elsewhere section 5.6.3 justifies nbc sanction on daar communication , broadcasters are liable for content publicized on there platform, so? moreover NBc have been on these case with AIT since 2017, given subsequent warnings every facts on ground proved AIT breached code of conduct ..so? |

RoyalUc:It's not what's the difference between those and shows that encourage people to call in? Most political shows on Radio and TV lambasted Buhari left right and centre Why single AIT out on a couple of occasions on live broadcast that I've watched the journalist caution the guest when things get heated The opinions of people are not that of the station. I'll only have an issue if the journalist themselves engage in such speech. That's the line So because NBC doesn't want descenting opinion, they should gag them if there wasn't unrest, would those comments come up Buhari and the APC should focus on bigger issues |
