So, I decided to start some fresh series recently and after seeing a list of someone's recommendations on this board.

I decided to try just two after subjecting both to my almighty assessment criteria .

The Expanse

My first series of this genre. Its highly rated almost everywhere. But... But... Mhen After watching almost up to half the show, I'm completely lost as to why it's so highly rated. Perhaps, its biggest score is in the production efforts. All those space thingy that's fine. As for storyline, I'll say good. Not exceptional, just Good.

Now, cast and acting Wait... I'm like, Hey, did they acted that show? The police detective was great, I'll admit. But that's where the performance starts and ends in my opinion. The crew, oh my, the crew . One word. Misfits. Or Miscasts. Most especially the supposedly crew captain and series lead. His attempts to sound like and behave like a boss is laughable. Amos should be the boss instead of eh eh...
What's his name again? ... Holden I think. Perhaps, some PR people suggested Holden since the Mindhunter guy is Holden also. Their similarity begins and ends with the good looks. Nothing else. I'm surely done. And the pilot is not even funny like. Not the first episodes. I Mean the crew's pilot. Sorry I can't remember his name


The Man in The High Castle

Yes. A complete constrast to the above. Everything, Everyone was/is brilliant. My kind of stuff. The title is quite deceptive as to what the film is all about. Overall, it was a completely satisfying watch for me. Good story and great cast. Great performances.

Talking about performance, shout out to Inspector Kido. Absolute, absolute Excellente. He doesn't even need to say anything. His facial expressions does all the Magic.

I decided to watch chernobyl today based on the recommendations of collegues, and I have to say, it's like reading a bestseller. the attention to details is startling....this is a riveting stuff. this series is gonna win every appropriate tv award this year.

Its the only series I have ever watched more than once. Matter of fact, there are episodes I watched thrice. That's how much I enjoyed it.

I don't think the expanse is a bad show. Just that it's so highly rated and the acting in my opinion doesn't do justice to a supposedly 8.4 series.

Tried it last two weeks and it was meh!
got my head together yesterday to try and see it again, probably hoping it will be some kinda Breaking Bad slow burner thing.. but hell NO it was still making me sleep at 2pm on a sunny sunday

If you still haven't gotten into it at this late stage, then The Expanse is not for you, and it's okay.

I agree with you in regards to Holden, he's acting is rather bland, but the trick is not to focus on him, rather, focus on other interesting characters around him... and the worldbuilding.

Season 4 as far as I can tell has no pirated digital presence. You have to subscribe to Amazon Prime to watch it, or wait till it gets pirated like the rest. Gonna take a while though.
