NYSC has released an important information for Female NYSC Corps Members that are Married.

Below is what they wrote on their official social media page

"PUBLIC NOTICE

This is to inform Married Female Corps Members who requested for Concessional Posting based on Marital Online and those who were Relocated in camp on Marital grounds, that their Maiden name would be replaced with either Husband's Name or Surname.
Kindly note that, your name will appear on your Certificate of National Service same way it is on your dashboard.
To this end, you cannot revert to your Maiden name, after your Certificate of National Service has been produced.

So if she divorces the husband later in life nko and there's need to present the NYSC certificate maybe for a Nw employment ? She will start swearing affidavit

Where is it the law in Nigeria that a woman’s name must change immediately after marriage?

Is NYSC now the court of law that enforces such?
I know they want to do it to reduce fraudulent applications for relocations but a simple proof of marriage either registry or traditional is enough.

The choice to have your name changed to your husband's should not be taken away from women. Whoa are the ones making these decisions? It should be a choice of a woman to bear husband's surname.

They should look for other ways to curb the incessant redeployment on marital basis

Las las change of name is only #1.70k at the court. It could be changed at anytime; before and after NYSC.
