Hey Guys, I've gotten so much information from this forum and I'm grateful to everyone who shares their experience on uni-assist, Admissions and the visa struggle. It's only right if we do the same for people who might need our help along the way to sustain continuity. It feels like I've been a ghost reader and @eldee and Deutschmann are saying the truth about information being hoarded by individuals. So this is not to point fingers but a plea to everyone out there reading. Please share as much as you can about your journey to Germany here. You never know who you might help. I got 3 more schools to apply just by following this thread even after I went through Daad to search for schools.
I've applied to 11 schools. 2 Bsc and 9Msc. 3 of them are yet to be forwarded by Uni Assist. No AL yet. Still hopeful and already applied for a date on Category A on Friday the 7th of June but no date from the embassy yet. My Bsc is in Information System and I applied for a wide range of courses from Data Analytics to Data Science, Applied Computer Science, Business and Engineering, Web Engineering... the list goes on.
Let's all Stay Positive and share as much as we can.

Please can you give us site to apply in SWG,thanks
SooCute:

Studentenwerk and SWG are not the same.

Take Studentenwerk like Normal School hostel managed by the uni. I no like am because na only students dey there and you have to leave after your studies. Plus, i am a private person, i am more like on a code nigga.

SWG is "WG" is the Wohnung = residence, . Stadt= City.

So it's a public accommodation scheme. When they find a good reason why you should be in the city (studies or work), then its easier for you. Its not easy to get due to long list, but when you get it, you are okay. The rent is usually below 200 euro for everything. Normally, it is very cozy... And you leave when you feel like..not like the other one that you must have to leave after graduation.

So imagine paying 350-450 euro (like in my school) with the Studenten wg.....Or rather less ?
150 euro basic rent...if you economize heater and water, you pay less than 200 a month.
I know people paying 190 euro per month in a house better than most private homes.

[quote author=SooCute post=79314171]Hearty congratulations newly admitted! Lob sei Gott!!
Apologies for those i am unable to respond to their PMs na hustle cause am.

I wish to thank all the contributors in this forum. just to add to what @Eldee narrated, i'd list few things that you might need to consider now you might still have time.

1) Get a drivers licence/learn driving. My company offered me a car, but i no get license. it will give you access to wide range of job opportunities. I no come fit spend 1800 euro plus the time to get am sharperly. To buy car here easy...sometimes you might wanna be sassy-classy grin grin grin grin grin grin grin.renting a Mercedes benz here for trip ( during the interview if i can learn in 2 weeks, they said "leider nicht".(Unfortunately no). Fvck! i lost the job and missed the fvcking cozy office grin grin grin grin grin grin

Baba thanks so much, your post dey always make sense.

PLS which of the drivers license? Local or international

PS International expires within 1 year, while local 3/5 years.
International is cheaper and easier to get though.

Many thanks for sharing. This is what I was referring to yesterday, bsc degrees with 2.1 or 2.2 applying for a second bsc can book for category A, not HND as was the case we saw yesterday. This information will go a long way to pacify the fears in many of our bsc applicants. Once again thanks.

Got € from Aboki @ 404, deposited everything at once, each bank with their own policies
A friend of mine wanted to use Gtbank, he was told he can only deposit €1000 per week, he later used UBA where he was told that the minimum amount he must have in his € account should be €75,I used access bank, 0 balance and the money was transferred once but I was charged €80 for transfer charges and the money got to my Fintiba within 48 hours

Was the process of getting an € account with Access difficult? I already have one with GTBank but I’m thinking of getting Access as well

You are changing the narratives bro
You were the one (one of those) saying category A was for only scholarship students which was wrong and those that try to probe it made it possible for others to confidently book caregory A if you are going for Msc and have first class to 2:2

Yeah, then you must tick scholarship before they later removed the scholarship aspect.
I am only against not reading effectively or not adhering to simple instruction which most Nigerians are guilty off.
What if they didn't later remove the scholarship?
Nigerians don't like keeping to simple instructions until their damn ass gets kicked

To buy car here easy...sometimes you might wanna be sassy-classy grin grin grin grin grin grin grin.renting a Mercedes benz here for trip (better one is about 5 euro/day) Suffer nogo kill you for this life.

2) Equip yourself. I got many opportunities. Forget dirty jobs, neat ones dey too grin grin grin grin grin if you clean yourself from home.
example, i got an offer as social media content management/development (just be snapping photo for them, editing with photoshop/InDesign and upload in their social media platforms like their Facebook account, Instagram etc for 15euro/hr). Challie, i no sabi photshop ni. As a sharp guy i asked during the interview if i can learn in 2 weeks, they said "leider nicht".(Unfortunately no). Fvck! i lost the job and missed the fvcking cozy office grin grin grin grin grin grin
Like i earlier mentioned, learn any functional programming language, u go be chairman. I also got a Nach hilfe (Extra-moral class for kinda SS3 mathematics class) 25 euro per hour. So you see?

3)If admitted, act with faith (I did so). Study related topics you might be needing for your future course. Revise your old notes. If you have access to internet, download or follow verified tutors on youtube. The thing is, you might not understand everything yet, but when you have an idea, its easier to ask the right question when it shows up in class.

4) Accommodation is a huge challenge (not a problem). If you are like me that like to be comfortable, apply for SWG in your city. This should be one of the earliest stuffs you should do. It's a government owned housing agency...their rooms are perfect and spacious with dining. Me i cannot comman squeez myself in one box and still pay high rent. SWG houses are fucking cheap. Embarrassingly cheap.
If you rent under someone, you can be kicked out, its not secured. But SWG, you are renting direct from gwomenti. everything is standard.

5) If you are like me that had no one to pick me from airport and you no wan dey jump train or miss road, abeg avoid the stress. There is a reliable transportation here called Flixbus. When you are sure of your travel date, you can contact someone here to book it for you from airport direct to your city. It is even cheaper and more comfortable than train.

6) If you can learn how to barb or shave yourself, you are luck. Buy clipper. Learn it if possible. i was forced to. normally barbing here, cheapest is 10 euro. Shaving 3 euro. When i came newly, i barbed for 29 euro, mostly need to barb 2wice a week, when i did the maths, e no soft oooo. Alaye na polythene bag you wan use comeback naija

7) Open a euro account with a reliable bank. Get all the details, if you are married and you trust your spouse, make it a joint account. In fact, find a way of dumping euro in Naija when you come here. If possible, make a possibility that your spouse (back home) or your siblings or your lawyer or your best friend can be able to withdraw the money if you authorize.

cool You will meet so many small children here. Don't be deceived. If you don reach to marry, marry. No dey do baby-pan-cake. shatap ya mauth grin grin grin grin. Truth is, you will never remain young.

9) If you are wishing to marry oyibo or oyibo marry you, get prepared. What worked for Mr A might not work for Mr B. What i mean to say is, prepare other strategies. No go abandon school unto all-is-in-order. People no dey hard to frustrate for this town. If e no dey for paper, no be you get m, even if you give oyibo belle, if she no go declare am for office, you still dey on a long thing. If you catch the one wey love you, she go even cry make you marry am, even carry am go Naija. But the thing is, you are the Nigeria she is seeing. Some of us here dey mumu. creating very silly impressions. When i see them i just turn left. Nonsense.

10) Within your last few weeks of travel, go for proper medical checkup (I checked everything grin grin grin grin grin). Be sure you treat any of our tropical sicknesses. Because if you carry malaria come here, na ambulance things. But here, malaria no dey to the best of my knowledge. I go hospital tell them say "doctor na malaria....na my normal sickness for nigeria, whenever i dey feel like this, i just know say na malaria" i just dey talk like small pikin, at he end, no be malaria. Shame no dey gree me go there again grin grin grin grin. come with some drugs if you wanna. its not necessary if you ask me.

11) Don't learn the language! As a big boy/girl na nonsense grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin I am an opposite living testimony.

12) There are many things to distract you here, even your fellow blacks....in fact Nigerians. Get ready for it all. Know what you want and go for it. Don't reveal too much about your personality. Sadly, na person wey sabi you go betray you.

THIS IS YOUR GERMANY;
YOU PRAYED FOR
YOU HOPPED FOR
YOU INVESTED IN
TAKE IT FVCKING PERSONAL!!!!!!!

K'emesia.

Thank u so much for this beautiful contribution. May Jah bless u. Though u are busy over there, but u always find time to drop information for us. I hope we in part 6 will emulate this. Thank u SooCute.

Bro you have spoken well but come to think of it. It is stated clearly that, 1 Class or 2 Lower class with an Msc or PHD admission not ” Bsc Admission” we can’t be smart dan oyinbo all because some of us went for an interview and they told us Paulinus no dey check Categories we all cancelled Cat B and booked Cat A, clearly in our mind we knew what Cat A required. I called the embassy yesterday and I spoke wit a lady an she told me to go ahead since I already had a date under Cat A, I told her again that I’m a Bsc holder and I’m going for another Bsc in Germany she said go ahead. She is a Nigeria and I’m not sure she’s aware of any student Visa Categories. No matter how long it take Cat B to get date na germany all of us dey go so let choose wisely.

If have like follow Basalt advice and cancel your already booked cat A. Both of you will remain in Nigeria .

For the last time, ANYBODY with at least a 2.2 in your b.sc and coming for another b.sc, m.sc or PhD go and book Cat AAAAAAAA

He who has ears let them here.

Una go remain for naija Dy listen to fake rumour and waiting for never moving cat B when u already qualify for cat A.
