Ebuka007:Please kindly see a dentist to determine the cause of the mouth odour and the treatment accordingly. No amount of 'miracle' toothpaste can cure it unless the cause is determined. You may be interested in this: https://www.nairaland.com/5099730/10-causes-mouth-odour |

Dentalgist:Nice job and thanks for updating us. But please I will like to correct that when you do root canal, 1. You dont remove the nerve. RCT is mostly recommended when the infection or tooth decay has gone beyond the pulp and into the periodontium. That explains its tenderness to percussion. So far the infection has gone beyond the pulp, it means the pulp has become necrotic. In this case, root canal is done to remove all the necrotic pulp tissue and filled up with restorative materials. This does not mean we only do RCT for tooth with necrotic pulp. I am just establishing the fact that you are not removing the nerve. As a matter of fact you give local anesthesia for a symptomatic tooth before doing Root Canal Therapy. 2. It is not only common that a cap/crown be placed on a tooth that root canal therapy has been performed on. It is mandatory and extremely important or else that tooth will break down and eventually be extracted. Thanks for the update once again |

Ebuka007:There are several factors that causes mouth odour. It could be local or systemic. Local asin due to diet, salivary flow and so on. Systemic as in mouth odour due to systemic diseases like Diabetes. When you are with a diabetic individual that is poorly controlled, there is a characteristic mouth odour you perceive. Bottom line is tell your friend to see a dentist. There lies the solution |

FoolishBoy419:The first step is to visit a dentist for assessment. I may not be in the best position to tell you the amount to budget until after assessment. |
