Sani Abacha remains the most powerful Head of State Nigeria ever had.

People feared him a lot then.

Here is a video showing the moment Late General Sani Abacha announced the arrest of Chief MKO Abiola for declaring himself as Nigeria's President.

Also the moment he announced Nigerian government's decision to DISSOLVE NUPENG and PENGASSON for promoting anarchy and lawlessness.

See more photos of Sani Abacha with Abiola after the cut

The beating he received and the long term imprisonment he endured is what led to the democracy you are now enjoying. Today, Abacha is looked down upon as a despot while MKO is celebrated as the hero of democracy. In years to come, June 12 will continue to be celebrated as democracy day by generations yet to be born in as much as Nigeria is still in existence while Abacha’s despotic memory will fade away. Truly, the evil/good that men does live after them.

Folks like you are poor students of history and it is our responsibility to continue to educate you. After the annulment in 1993, General Buhari was among the very few northern elites that spoke out against the annulment. He issued a statement that was widely publicized then calling on IBB to complete the announcement of the result and hand over to the winner.

That he later served as the chairman of PTF in the interest of Nigeria doesn’t invalidate the fact that he spoke against the annulment of MKO’s election.

Visit the library of media houses that existed back then if you want to see a copy of the statement. There was no internet in 1993 so don’t expect anybody to provide you with a link.

Great moment

Abacha is greater than Buhari in every sphere undecided

Abacha was a decisive leader.

After Abiola's arrest, a lot of his ilk (Yoruba brothers and sisters) went on exile only to return in 1999. shocked

Abacha was literate. undecided

Even under democracy, can anyone dare form a parallel government angry

Like or hate him, one thing is sure about Abacha...he's brave, straight up, disciplined, intelligent, smart and decisive.

He's the definition of a REAL MAN...one who does damage and own it, who threatens and lives up to the billing...not like the old thing in Aso Rock that blames everyone (even the dead and the gods) except himself.

if not that the gods plastered Abacha's conscience with craze for corruption and quantum looting, he would have been the Best President in the history of Nigeria.

What in God's name is the relevance of this reminder to the present state of Nigeria?
Buhari is leading the country to doom, with insecurity and corruption everywhere and it's Abacha's announcement of Abiola's arrest that is of relevance to some people in 2019!
