2 French players in the box. Clear daylight robbery. And they have the gall to celebrate as if they did on their own merits (or lack thereof).

One Nigerian player was in the box as well

What is good for the goose is good for the gander

Apart from the penalty controversy, I must applaud the discipline that the girls showed tonight. They played with a heart driven by victory even though we lost. We hope this attitude translates to a victory in our next match, should we qualify.

But we need to learn to counter more effectively. That and a few defensive tweaks and we are set. Our opponents holding the ball with 90% possession doesn't really matter to me so far we do the scoring.

All in all, great game Falcons and all the very best

Forget whether d coach was poor or not,...let's appt d girls, dem try

A Nigerian coach would av been defeated by 3-nil tonight, d defence organization was top notch, even with a man/woman down, dey still held deir own defensively, aside d penalty and d rare miss from sommer,it took France 65th minute on pitch to av d first shot on target...look @ d positives bro and move on

Meanwhile if we get to qualify to d next round,I think d coach has done a good job...thumbs up cool

We should always learn from our mistakes instead of repeating the same horrible mistakes all over again.

I am really sad the coach spoil this game.

Why save the best for the last? This is how we should have played Norway....or it a conspiracy to keep us down? Rohr did it at the world cup and now Dennerby....if you can play this type of football...why wait till at the end to do it?

I am asking ooo

That was the mistake they made against Norway: Trying to match Dem blow for blow.

This was the only way we could have played France. But for that penalty that game could have gone for 120 mins without France scoring

Nigeria 0 France 1:
More penalty drama sees hosts top group

Wendie Renard dispatched a retaken penalty for her third goal of the Women's World Cup as France edged past Nigeria on Monday.
Hosts France secured top spot in Group A at the Women's World Cup after more penalty controversy saw them earn a 1-0 win over 10-woman Nigeria.

A draw would have seen France lead the pool and Nigeria join them in the next round as a top-ranked third-placed side, and such an outcome appeared likely for much of a dull contest.

However, Ngozi Ebere was shown a second yellow card and conceded a late penalty following a VAR review - the second straight match in which France have benefited from the technology.

Wendie Renard missed the spot-kick at the first attempt but took full advantage of being ordered to retake it after Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie stepped off her line.

Renard, who netted twice against South Korea and then scored an own goal against Norway, proved the match-winner and Nigeria must now wait to see if three points are enough to advance to the next stage.

France predictably dictated play from the off, while Nigeria provided a threat on the break. However, set-pieces appeared the most likely route to goal for either side early on as Amandine Henry volleyed wide.

A rare moment of individual brilliance from Delphine Cascarino almost teed up Valerie Gauvin, but the match remained deadlocked at the end of an uneventful first half.

Cascarino slammed wide and then squared for Gaetane Thiney to wastefully shoot off target early in the second period, with the forward going closer when she prodded another dangerous right-wing centre across the face of goal.

But the penalty - awarded by referee Melissa Borjas following a review of video footage - after Ebere tangled with Viviane Asseyi and was shown a red card finally led to the breakthrough.

Renard dragged a tame penalty against the foot of the left-hand upright, but Nnadozie's early movement provided a reprieve and the defender picked out the top-right corner to seal the win at the second attempt.

You will make a bad coach then.

Do you know how many shots on goal France had after the substitution?

It's not about shots and possession its about getting a result. We needed a result and the best 11 were on the pitch for that. Barring injuries, we were not down, we had the game just where we wanted to have it, it was still favorable to us.

So why make a substitute if it cannot improve the state of things. Except I was gunning for a win or I doubted my defense ability to keep up with the pressure, then I'd make one.

I think the coach did what many good coaches would have done. Kept the team compact like that. There was no need bringing a fresh leg which can equally be calamitous to our play.

You see if tjat assumption is founded just on perception then it's clear cut bias, prejudice and therefore racism.

If there have been isolated incidents to form that opinion then that's very unfair to paint every body with the same brush.

However, if over the past three decades there have been numerous players continously caught for age cheating on the African continent. In addition some countries in Africa have even been banned by FIFA from age grade competitions as a result.

It is therefore plausible not improbable that there is a good possibility that the player may have fabricated his age to gain undue advantage. It is not certain but possible unfortunately, particularly if he wasn't born in a country where there is no, AUTOMATIC DATA CAPTURE AT BIRTH.

It's not prejudice but a reflection of past present and continous acts of age cheating across the African continent.

It's essentially the same acts of fraud that bar us Nigerians from certain normal financial transactions.

For instance l find it impossible to pay for a flight ticket to Nigeria over the phone to the airline with my visa or Mastercard. Why, Nigeria is classed as a high risk country for Financial fraud. Would you call that undue prejudiceā“

That was a Spanish U12 competition and has nothing to do with Africa.

But in live time, the French players ran in first. Even if the rule warrants a retake, at least the rules should be applied everyone( in this case the French players be penalized).

I already know before the match that france will try and win by fire by force even if it required cheating.
That penalty was not a penalty at all. And how did that there crook foul merited a yellow card.?
And pls what does it takes to start Kanu instead of the misfiring Oshoala?
I pray we qualify sha .... I won't mind a rematch vs those french
