After Engine Washing, My Honda Baby Boy Is Not The Same Again by spiralwedge(m): 8:38pm On Jun 17, 2019
I took my honda baby boy to wash (engine inclusive) in a very big highly equipped car washing space. I was on a long phone call throughout the wash.
I was surprised the guy did not cover the electrical parts.
So far, i have spent a lot of money because everything just started happening to the car.
One day, the car refused to recognise the key.
Fuel pump changed
Injectors and coils changed
Some other things were serviced
Now its the gear giving me headache. It has been serviced, but it makee cranking moving sound especially in R. Was told to wait about 5 days after intensive use so that the water in the electrical part of the gear would dry. That the gear is still good
I have spent so much and i am tired.

Next time, please cover the electrical parts of your engine yourself...alll these car wash people know how to do is to use that pressure water hose to fire anything firable grin

Some mad ones will even spray hot water on your car body and damage the paint angry

I learnt a bitter lesson. I'm suppose to sue them to court for the damages if this was a normal country.
Everything is either being replaced or serviced.
E pain me o

It once happened to me, though mine was that the car started idling roughly for about two days and my horn sounded like a cat been stepped on.

UPDATE

I took the car to the Car Wash, first identified the guy that washed and then met with the manager. Told them how the N1.5k I gave them for washing my engine had made me spent up to 40k and still no resolves.
The manager empathised with me and eventually got me a mechanic to diagnose the car with a machine, after waiting for an hour.

The diagnosis trouble code is P1607 PCM Internal Circuit Failure

He interpreted it that I should change the brain box.

The confusion is that the brain box is inside the car by the front passenger's seat. There was no way water could reach there.

NB:
The brain box was earlier removed to be freed of code so that the key could start the car.

The known problems NOW are that the 'slow' fluctuates and the car jacks forward; and the gear doesn't select except D1 is first used and then changed to D4 later on; and finally when put at Reverse, there's a cranky sound and a sudden movement that shakes the whole car.

Will a new brain box fix all of that?

Never fully hose down an engine....... Simply get a rag + brush, and manually wipe it down..........

It might take you an hour, but an hour well worth it........

A picture of my engine bay, it gets cleaned and wiped down every other month............

Your car engine bay does not need to be dirty.

DIY, get a good face towel and clean the visible areas and where your hands can easily reach. You can do this once every month or twice in a month if your roads are not tarred.

Very simple...... Give it a clean, every week..... The most difficult would be the initial one, but keep up the task and subsequent one's would be a trip down the 40 seconds alley......

This is serious.

I'm always scared of washing my car engine. Thanks for the heads-up and sorry about the unfortunate incident.

Currently experiencing this "horn sound like a cat been stepped on"
It seems every aboki in the area can just work in a car wash,no orientation whatsoever

UPDATE

Bought another brainbox for 25k. Programmer collected 5k. Transport and misclellany 5k = 35k today.

Previously spent = 40k
Today = 35k
-------------------------
total = 75k
-------------------------

The car is now working fine and reborn. Relieved, but lesson learnt.

Thanks to everyone on this thread. I appreciate. Just sharing my problems with you guys alone helped. Thanks diportivo
