Some ethnic groups are more concentrated in certain regions ,for example....
Zulu is the most spoken and understood language in South Africa however the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal has the most Zulu speakers since it's the kingdom of the Zulu.
The Venda , Tsonga and Pedi are more concentrated in the Limpopo province.
Xhosa people are mostly found at the Cape. both Eastern and Western Cape.
Swati and Ndebele are mostly at Mpumalanga province
The Tswana and Sotho are mostly found at North West
Gauteng province, the economic hub of South Africa is the melting pot of all tribes.
Afrikaans, although synonymous with white people is however mostly spoken by non- whites.

Maybe !. There were a lot of disagreements initially because other smaller groups who wanted their languages recognised were forced under the official 9. I know in my home province there are still cries about it , but no one really cares , we are all xhosa now to everyone else . How many tribes do you have in Nigeria ?.

Most Coloureds speak Afrikaans as their first language. There are not many young black people that are fluent in Afrikaans but we use a lot of words from the language in our daily communication (mostly slang). There are a lot of white people ( mostly farmers ) who speak African languages, there are also a lot that don't.

Race relations are rocky at the moment ( it was election time) , this is usually when a lot of hate becomes visible. Normally , people are generally " friendly " . Basically those who want to socialise with each other do so , and those who prefer to hang or live among their own are also free to do so. But the last part ( living with your own) is getting more difficult as more and more South Africans join the middle and rich classes ( particularly for whites).

LOL, you could start with pidgin , Afrikaans also started off as such . Just eliminate the English words though lol. I understand this can't be easy in many African countries, I would say we were mostly lucky because at the time these languages were made official we all had one enemy and I can imagine that people had no energy for any more fights, especially fighting ourselves . There are calls to combine all the languages and come up with one , although I don't see that hapenning anytime soon , I think it would be a great development .

They do , but there are few of them in south Africa. We have pockets of their communities here in my home province and the Northern cape ( not the impostors ).

I've been seeing a lot of news about Asian miscreants over there , but don't know what to make of it (I'm always reluctant to believe most things from your BBC ). Were you born there ?.
