I hope this will shed some light....SBU/CSU are the seven divisions of NNPC namely: upstream, downstream, ventures, power and gas, refining, finance and account, and finally corporate services. The first five divisions are headed by chief operating officer (COO) and the last two are headed by Group general manager (GGM). All the seven of them are members of the governing board. WHILE
SUBSIDIARY is a company hold by a parent company..hence NNPC subsidiaries are companies which NNPC holds more than 50% of their voting shares. They are headed by managing directors(MD)...They are not divisions but companies and are scattered all over the country....e.g netco in Lagos and npdc in Benin....cheers

Subsidiaries are registered as a company on their own (usually ends with Ltd although they sometimes dont put Ltd there).

SBU is just division of the group for ease of managing businesses that are similar. So there will be a number of subsidiaries doing similar business under an SBU.

You can work in refineries utilities unit or Renewable energy division but if you are a GT you can be trained and put anywhere.

NLNG is not a wholy owned SBU, NNPC is just a shareholder.
