Please my dear, don't be depressed. The fact still remains our Educational institutions in Nigeria are corrupt and money driven. It is worst in private and all state universities and polytechnics compared to federal universities where its minimal or non existence. I graduated from UNN, I know what am saying.

Please always attend a federal university. Also, my family friend that attended FUTO was intentional failed and delayed for 4 years after his mates have graduated. Group of lectures ganged up on him, saying he was chasing their girlfriend.

Word of advice, pay the Lecturer so your course can be passed, if you resit it, they will fail you again, secondly, never attend a state university, this scenerio is minimal in federal universities. YOU ALL READING THIS HAVE BEING WARNED.

Thirdly, try getting a university degree directly, all this ND/HND crap aren't worth it, you spend more years in school compared to a degree holder only to get an ordinary, unappreciated HND.

Most importantly, when sad, depressed, confused, afraid, uncertain of the future, run to God in PRAYERS, supplications, praise, worship and maditate on his words and believe all is well, knowing your heavenly Father is with you, walking with you through life's trials and tribulations.

You are not alone my dear. Remain blessed because you are already blessed. Don't forget the plan of God for you is for you to prosper and be of good health, and the devil will contest that, try to make you depressed so he can destroy, kill or divert your Destiny.

School is not the only highway to success in life.
What it guarantees anyway is a fall back-plan.
There is no way you hate school more than me and yet I learned later in life the point of it.
Go to school first, complete everything to the best of your power and collect your certificates.
After that you can indulge in whatsoever you want.
Where school plays the biggest role is if that hustle fails you can easily dust your certificate and enter a corporate job.
The plan is working very well for me.

After takinq time to read your write-up,i can now proudly say i understand your predicament....as a matter of fact,i was once in your shoes and trust me bro,be it a poly or a uni,they ain't after your brain but simply your money....oya just imaqine what your H.O.D told you??....

U need not be depressed. Let me share my experience with u.

I was very bright. I got into the university and had a little above 4.0 out of 4.0 cgpa scale in my first year. I knew I wasn't mediocre. Though at the end of the first year I was like the 3rd best in my department, but Still I knew I was young and getting it.

Fast forward to 200l I did a borrowed Co.puksorh course and result came out; I failed. I wasn't really disoriented. I knew something was amiss, but I didn't dwell on that.

I registered the same course in part 3, scored B and had the best overall result all rounder in 300l. After 400l I graduated as the best in my department; a little off first class. I mean I had a better result than those that never had F grade throughout the 4 years.

Today I'm doing well for myself.

It doesn't matter how u fall, what matters is picking urself up and doing better. Don't focus on who has wronged u or made u fail. U can drill yourself, study for that particular course in such a way way that for anybody to fail u, he would've committed academic suicide ( A lecturer once told me face to face in front of the whole class that I would fail his course, I ended up scoring 71 A in that course. He called me out later and said I am a crazy boy)

This is the best advise so far. The name of the lecturer should even be published so that when the idiot loses his job. He will find it difficult to get employed elsewhere.

All I can say is welcome to the real world..That is why when I read through some immature comments on issues or headlines here on nairaland, I just smile to myself because I know these one don’t know what the world is all about yet.
Anyway, back to your matter , that you failed a course or 2 does not mean you should lose interest in school., the lecturer sounded it like a preacher on early morning raid that “ no pay no grade”, so just sacrifice the 7k my brother and carry on.This is a wake up call to you, welcome to the real world..
The best students in school even first class graduates are roaming the streets , no job. I graduated from school 7 years ago, our first class material is a teacher in a make manage secondary school.
My advice , in as much as you are still in school, try to learn a skill, a trade whatever .. paper qualification helps no one these days , unless your papa get connection. There is more to life than certificate.

Another depressed finalist, there you have it, our education system is flawed. This is what we get when we have some illogical persons as lecturers who care only about money and student failure definitely not their education. You’ll be alright.

Hi. everything you have said is exactly right. I experienced same. I know what u are going through. You enjoy your hardwork paying off and nothing hurts a honest hardworking person more than freeloading bastards. Ignore the above idïots referring to ur grades as "mere" and "ordinary" . These are exactly the type people that abhor legitimate hardwork no matter how small.As much as the level of education in Nigeria is in the doldrums,it is not a scam. Get ur education. You've got two options,both very painful and hard...1- Pay the "fee" so u can get ur grade and eventually get the hell out if there. 2- Leave and find a "better" school. However this corruption is in every other school.unless you've got money for a private school which are fair and actually encourage merit. I don't know what you'll decide. Anyway after all is said and done,after you get through this..NEVER EVER JOIN THE BANDWAGON. Nigeria is rotten enough.Good luck and don't let the system pull you down.
