I am so ecstatic this morning, my 4 year old says in a musing tone, the Earth is a colourful moon. It's such a thoughtful observation from a child. I am so glad because we watch science vids together and this means she is beginning to think about the nature of our universe and make her own deductions. I am so happy about this development.

Ok I can see how that may give the impression. I made a clean break from religion so while I can sympathise with the indoctrinated, I have no sympathy for the terrible ideas. I'm somewhat angry at myself for believing them for so long so it's kind of cathartic to shout out against them.

For me, Christianity was supposed to be from cradle to the grave. All the schools I went to made us say the grace and sing praises everyday. All. Up to university. It meant most of my friends and social circle shared same beliefs.

I had to go off social media when I started having doubts. Surprisingly, it was my closest friends whose attacks hurts most.

Losing my faith was a long slow painful process. Worth it. There's a whole world outside the walls of the Bible.. I felt born again.

I swear some people can be very annoying in their ignorance. Comment like that can make someone weak out of frustration.

Someone said to me in a Facebook comment "this is a sign of depression. Hope you don't have sniper with you" to the fact that I had the audacity to declare that a god is not in evidence. And doubles down when told how insensitive their comment is.

That is why I dont post on social media when it comes to atheism. Your close pals can frustrate you.

But on nairaland and reddit, iyalaya any religious fool that comes my way. I will blast them to oblivion with logic.

LoL! Funny enough none of the people I have interacted with one on one on this subject has been nasty, even when it gets somewhat heated. They've expressed understanding and some level of empathy. I find that many people have doubts but they just can't make the leap to the conclusion that the evidence does not support the existence of a god. The idea of god's love is too comforting or its wrath too scary for them to contemplate breaking from the idea of god.
