Not slapping someone, but physically assaulting a defenseless girl. In any sane country the politician that tries that on camera would be forced to resign, including the president or prime minister.

In a sane county, a senator can only be removed by the people who put him there: voters ;through a recall or another election, not by protests or police directives

Yes he should resign honorably or go to jail. Assault is a 3 year sentence. Those are his options. He is free to pick which is more important to him. That said the standards for a sitting senator is higher.He must not go around abusing his power by slapping the weak. We don't need characters like that making our laws
