It is not hard to see why Senegal is not impressive

Their midfield three of Gueye, Kouyate and Ndiaye have no creative bone in them so Mane and the other attackers have to create and score themselves

Kouyate have been playing central defence and not midfield ,a schakle 04 defender was injured in their first game and I think kouyate has been pairing koullibally since then

I think krepin Diata is the creative player there

Until yesterday, wetin super eagles dey play since afcon started.

When drc levelled, i was confident they will win and madagascar will tire out in extra time but their mental atitude surprised me. Now that is not a fluke.

Algeria is meeting Mali or CIV if they qualify. The winner then goes on to meet Nigeria or RSA in semifinal.

Madagascar is meeting Ghana or Tuniisa

I have watched with interest as people enthusiastically clamor for the inclusion of onyekuru and chukwueze to the starting line up of the Super eagles. In as much as I am not a coach, and don't claim to be one, I see some reasoning to Rohrs logic.

Onyekuru is a left wing player, primarily a number 11. Who is he going to replace? Musa? If you remove Musa from that attacking line up, Ighalo would be useless. From my observation, Musa is our most potent selfless attacking threat. Definately needed for a South African team that like to play open football, thereby leaving openings for Musa to run into. Yes, Rohr missed an opportunity to test Onyekuru at the dud third match against Madagascar. However, that opportunity is gone. Onyekuru would most reasonably be brought in as a replacement for Musa after the game has already been won with a good margin, not when we are still chasing the game.

Chukwueze has great attacking potential but is very poor defensively. This actually caused him some trouble with Amuneke during his under 17 days. Though I am not a coach, it makes sense to use players that can attack and defend well on the wings(Simon and Kalu) as starters. Please bear in mind that Awaziem is currently playing in an ad hoc position, hence he may need help defensively in that position. It also makes sense to bring Chukwueze into the foray in the second half when the opposing defenders are tired and more prone to mistakes.

In summary, Rohr has his deficiencies. However, we have to be pragmatic when criticizing him on his team selection. He is only working with what he has.

Afcon 2019: Nigeria can't match Bafana Bafana's pace and skill - Mohlala

The retired left-back has praised the current Bafana squad for their win over the Pharaohs and backed them to stun the Super Eagles too

Former South Africa defender Jethro Mohlala has warned the supporters not to put Bafana Bafana under pressure following their win over Egypt at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals.

Coach Stuart Baxter's men are through to the quarter-finals of the continental tournament and many have backed the team to go all the way and become champions for the second time.

“Look, I think many South Africans never gave the boys a chance based on how the results in the group stages came out. I believe that also helped the players to relax because they were underdogs going into that clash,” Mohlala told Goal.

Having said that, they knew their qualities and they just had to play their normal game and show their quality and they did everything well,” he added.
They are aware that the fans back home were not happy and they had to step up. They silenced everyone and that will restore their confidence. That is a massive victory for the team without a doubt. I never gave them a chance they proved us wrong, that was pure class and I just think they can beat whoever they face going forward.

Speaking about team selection as goalscorer Thembinkosi Lorch replaced Themba Zwane, Mohlala expressed disappointment where fans tend to individualise players based on their clubs.

“Yeah, they played very well, the change was good and it worked. Credit must go to the coach and his technical team. I am not happy though when we mention players based on their clubs, this is a national team,” he urged.

“We just need to support them as a national team. Lorch did very well for us and he clicked with Percy Tau and it was good that we scored at that time in the game. Lorch is a great player, I hope he learns day by day and we wish them all the best going forward."

Moreover, the former Mamelodi Sundowns player stated that facing Nigeria in a quarter-final clash on Wednesday is better than meeting a fellow Southern African side.

“I think that’s going to be a good game against Nigeria and the boys will need to focus. It’s better we are not facing another Southern African side,” continued the legend..
