I have one pressing question unrelated to the topic. Why is it that the govt is leaving the whole land mass in the north to go site nuclear power plants in the southern state where they have gas readily available and within a short distance?

Nuclear power plant needs massive amount of water to cool down its core(reactor) if not the explosion and the subsequent radiation will wipe out the whole country and beyond and the radiation will continue to kill if not cleaned for over hundred years.

The reactor that exploded in japan was located beside the ocean. The reason it exploded was drop in water level of the ocean. Now imagine locating it where there’s no water(NORTH)

This to me is another attempt at lording it over the south by locating dangerous technology in the south which has better prospect of alternative but pumping gas up north to power plants.
Not a big fan of the president but this one actually makes sense. Nuclear reactors need water - lots of water - to stay cool and prevent a nuclear meltdown alla Chernobyl and we all know much of the North is drier than people's wallets the day before payday. Seeing as any meltdown would affect more or less the whole country on some level, it would be better to have them in the south.

So you mean Benue portion of river Niger isn't enough? I will research more on that.

Yes they do need water. That now opens the possibility of using the massive heat given off by the plants to distill salty ocean water. They can pump salty water to north from ocean down south, clean the water with the heat from the plant (distillation) while cooling the plant, then go ahead to pump the distilled water to Ruga and farm settlements for all year farming.

I can't imagine having water, oil and gas in the south and then focusing on transferring the oil/gas to the north instead of the water. We don't think in Africa.

Did you have a deep thought about the investment outlay of pumping salt water to the north just because of nuclear power plant? How much does nigeria stand to make as profit from pumping salt water to the north as against pumping oil to the north?. It’s not a wise investment at all.

Until the government fixes the poor electricity situation of Nigeria skyscrapers will continue to be very scarce in the country. If you build a skyscraper you must have electricity 24/7 for vertical movement, artificial ventilation and artificial lighting otherwise your skyscraper is dead on arrival. And for you to have lifts, air-conditioning and lightning you need 24 hrs electricity.

That's true. No country can grow their economy on generator sustained electric power. Nigeria has a long way to go. Her leaders are just myopic and very dull and very very unintelligent. If all Buhari was able to achieve in the last 4 years was constant electricity supply, he would have done more than all the leaders since independence for the economy of Nigeria. But all that's on their minds is cattle and sharing oil wealth.

Is real, Kuwait are doing it and it makes sense economically so why are you saying it isn't a wise investment? Besides it will outlive oil and gas and even out-earn oil/gas in long run.

I still remember that day perfectly.
Ikeja Police barracks

This is the event that made me leave Lagos and seventeen years after, I still haven't stepped my feet there.

That day was bloody.
The story of what happened in the canal is the most shocking and tragic one.

May the victims continue to rest in peace. Amen

I promised myself that anyday I go to Lagos, I must visit their cenotaph to pay my last respect.

We were playing Awilologomba on our 3 loader DVD that Sunday afternoon. Mein, that blast was massive. It shook buildings.

Few days after that Sunday afternoon we left Lagos for our home state and up till today, I haven't step my feet in Lagos.

I miss the city.
I hope something takes me there sooner or later

Yes, I waas playing around with my cousin and I wads planning going to fellowship. The noise of the blast almost affected my eardrom, I could see birds flying away. It was so scary that It brought total commotion.
I think it was aroudd 3 to 4pm the blast started. Some old men that witnessed civil war thought thee end have come thereby raising false hope. People were just outside, ready to run. I maintain calm and tune on the radio to know if the city was under attack.

Kuwait is not using it for Nuclear power plant. Nuclear power plant is a whole different ball game entirely.

Nobody builds a nuclear plant hinterland. You have to consider the temperature of the atmosphere and the temperature to be generated by the reactor itself.

Would you rather have a Ruga with human beings that can be controlled or a Nuclear reactor that can wipe out a whole country if it explodes. Remember the nuclear waste will still have to be washed down the River Niger if the reactor is located in the north. All the states along the River Niger and River Benue will all have radiation contaminated water due to the nuclear waste.

Except you're going to say they should construct a pipe carrying the Nuclear waste to be disposed in the Atlantic ocean. even if you sat that, have you considered a situation where the pipe is intentionally sabotaged by enemies of the south?
