Let them commercialise it and not for project sake.

Typical of some stupid Nigerians.

According to you,Covenant University did there own since 2014 and it ended there, without commercialising it,huh? So what is the essence of the innovation?

Question to Both UNN and Covenant University, when will they invent KEKE that will run on battery and commercialise it to help the poor in Nigeria?
Calm down and reread. CU's own is used as campus shuttles

Covenant University and UNILAG took one FIAT and Mazda and CONVERTED them from petrol to electric...

UNN built an electric car from SCRATCH!

UNN is therefore the first university to achieve such feat! Case closed!

There is nothing worth emulating here. We are just used to being the mediocre we are. The cars are ugly.

Note: Those with contrary opinion that will quote me with insults will be ignored.
What have you produced?
If you, I and others don't support our own then we will never develop. If the Japanese and the Chinese had follow this assumption of criticism then they wouldn't have been where they are today. Someone researched on transportation and came up with bicycle then another build on it that resulted in motorcycle then afterward car, ship and aeroplane. All these aided movement of people from one place to another. If we don't start from somewhere we will never go far in life. It is better you copy innovation (if permitted) and then build on it to better

This just shows that the government needs to come in and boost the capital in this sector to make it beautiful, because with this our designers can come in and make good sketches that these inventors can work on.

Did you know when ford made his car initially, it wasn't beautiful. It was just an engine stacked with wood and iron. Making it look skeleton like. But as time went on, designers came in and made it what it is being suitable for Every generation.

These people are just inventors, they know little about designing. It's the designers job to make it beautiful and suitable for the public. God bless you.

Whether UNN build it from the scratch or covenant did, someone must have done something similar to this and then others continued from where he or she stopped. That is how things are research before they become a full fledged product been sold in the market

DID THEY CREATE THE ENGINE THEMSELVES OR THEY JUST ASSEMBLED?

I don't think electric cars use engines.

the aim is to replace the power which hitherto is generated by the engine thru mixing petrol with air and exploding the mixture in a controlled explosion inside the engine, with power from rechargeable batteries.

These cars sef look like juju.

Nothing innovative even the body is made from previously existing cars.

Is this what tech innovation is all about in this shithole called Nigeria?

AutoReportNG:
Earlier today, AutoReportNG published some exclusive photos of the UNN's electric car. The car which was applauded by the Director-General of National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) was quoted saying, “The council is happy that UNN is the first to prepare a paper design and produced electrical car that has been unveiled and test-run today in the university.

“We urge other universities and higher institutions in the country to emulate innovation and technology spirit of UNN.”

If university of Lagos had made an electric car before why then didn't they submit their early prototype instead of wasting fund and time doing another one?

Because the chairman of National Automotive Design And Development Council asked UniLag, UNN and Usman Dan Fodio University to produce and UNN was the first.

Why did UniLag not not simply turn out its prototype, why even participate to begin with?

Seems the earlier works were not up to modern standard?

I don't think that's the contention. All inventions have related attempts elsewhere. However that doesn't diminish the success of the invention. the issue is that UNN is the first to produce electric CAR and not the first to experiment in an engine of a ready made car. That is if what the op claims is true. pls let's stop the bad blood.

You and your likes are just 'ignoramouses'.

You are always quick to criticize things you don't understand especially when it comes to other peoples' faith.

Do you bother to understand what SUNNAH is?

Anyway, those guys should have used 'BID'HA'(inventions, innovations in matters of religion)instead of INNOVATION. That way, religious bigots like you wouldn't have found something to cry over.

To make it clear for you convenant university didn't built any car they only reconverted another company products but UNN built theirs from the scratch, they never imitated anyone or used another company products for conversion. Tks.

That moniker you quoted, I have been watching it and one olanipekun for sometime and I can tell you that they are being deliberate and their motive is to cause religious strife in Odualand, out of envy for our tolerance in matters of religion. Consider this, I am an atheist; Mum was a Christian/Muslim (Yes, she combines both) while dad was a traditionalist. Among my siblings there are both Christians and Muslims. Yes I give no f**k about both religions cause to me they are not better than those invented by my forefathers. Everywhere in the world; striking a balance among several competing religions is a major problem. The Yoruba society has done better than anywhere else you can think of. So, brethren I want you to see this attacks by Igbos for what it really is; A psychological warfare to divide Odua nation with religion because they lack the capacity to engage her in conventional warfare. What should we do; give it to them fire for fire and also start to intimate our kids with the obvious fact that Igbos are envious of Yoruba nation and are bent on seeing its destruction just like they destroyed the "beautiful" regional system. Note: I am in no way suggesting that we plant hate in our kids like Igbos are obviously doing with their own kid. What I am suggesting is that we should get more pragmatic about how we deal with the Igbos.
