Why I Can’t Comment On Fg’s Decision To Drop Goje’s Case —sagay by doris00: 11:09am On Jul 10, 2019
The Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has said that he cannot speak on the decision of the Muhammadu Buhari-led government to drop the prosecution of Gombe Central senator, Danjuma Goje, because he did not have details of the matter.

Sagay said this during an interview Tuesday

The senior advocate, however, said he would not be in support of the move if it was done for political reasons.

He said he could not speak on the matter because he did not know why the case was dropped.

Sagay said, “I’m not aware of the reason because my answer must depend on the reason. I’m going to find out. Let’s put it this way: if there is a good case against him, then it is withdrawn, it’s not justified.

“One really needs to know the reason; I don’t want to start condemning him without finding out why. But if there’s a good case and that case is withdrawn for political reasons, I cannot support it.

“That’s all I can say, but there may be a justifiable reason which I don’t know yet. So, I’m not going to condemn (the Federal Government) yet without enough knowledge of the circumstances.”

So this man does not know that Buhari's govt quashing of the Senator Danjuma Goje's corruption case with the EFCC via the office of the AGF in order for him to sacrifice his Senate Presidency ambition is another big moral burden on the APC regime that needs total condemnation?

I remember what this foolish man also said about the Kemi Adeosun's NYSC certificate forgery scandal and the sensational Gov.Ganduje's babanriga dollar bribe stuffing scandal. angry

Sagay will ever remain a big fool, idiot & disgrace to the legal profession.Guess he will not have anything to say when it was an opposition member that was caught in the corruption act that Buhari govt is perpetuating in name of a charade anti-corruption fight?

Ok

Do you know that Land in this axis appreciates faster than any other place in Lagos.

Do you know that Ibeju-Lekki is the new Lagos.

Do you know that once Dangote Refinery takes off full operation by December that it will be difficult getting a land on this axis at this Amount.

Do you know that many people are massively investing in Ibeju-Lekki that is why the first and second phase of this Estate lasted in the market for three weeks.

Do you know that you will be doing your children a lot of good if you invest in their name. Just imagine what the value of the land will be by the time they grow up.

Do you know that lots of business opportunities will spring up in Ibeju-Lekki. You can set up your business in this axis and make more money than you currently make.

Do you know that just like Lekki Phase 1 and 2, Ibeju-Lekki will become centre of not just local attraction but of international attraction.

Do you know that many Africans will prefer to come and live in Ibeju-Lekki than to go to Dubai in the nearest future.

I thought this man had integrity. Some people just choose to be crooked in their old age.
Should corruption cases be dropped for any reason in the first place?
He used to be the poster boy of fairness in governance. He was there on any TV discourse on doing it right.

First, he said people shouting over Adeosun's forgery should shut up. And now this. You already know what his response would be on Tinubu's bullion vans.

Mr. Adviser on anti-corruption, please advise yourself first.

But .........Why do these APC guys always take us Nigerians for fools.

Who is this corrupt rogue trying to deceive with his lawyer talk

naijapips04:
The Nigerian presidency on Tuesday said that the case of the alleged certificate forgery of the Honourable Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun was not a corruption matter.

Mrs Adeosun was alleged to have forged a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate after an investigation by an online newspaper, Premium Times.

Professor Itse Sagay, chairman of Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) had said the minister should not be sacked because ‘she’s damn good’. He further claimed it is irrelevant if she didn’t do the mandatory youth service.

Femi Adesina, a presidential spokesman on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, stated that the case was not a corruption matter. He further noted that Professor Irtse Sagay’s comments were his personal opinion and not the stance of the President.

‘It was a personal comment, that is not the position of the Government and Professor Sagay has a right to his opinion.

“It will not be down the aisle of Professor Sagay to advise on that matter because it is not a corruption matter so to speak.”

Section 13 of the NYSC law prescribes punishment for anyone who absconds from the scheme or forges its certificates, while eligible Nigerians who skipped the service are liable to be sentenced to 12 months imprisonment and/or N2, 000 fine.

Section 13 (3) of the law also prescribes three-year jail term or option of N5, 000 fine for anyone who contravenes the provision of the law as is alleged Mrs Adeosun has done.

Subsection 4 of the same section also criminalises giving false information or illegally obtaining the agency’s certificate. It provides for up to a three-year jail term for such offenders.

Sources have claimed that the Presidency could be considering granting the minister clemency for the forgery case ‘in view of the great works she has done for government — bailing out the country from recession and stabilizing the economy.’

However legal practitioners have countered that, saying only after a conviction can anyone be granted a pardon.
