The interest rates on both fixed deposits, bonds and commercial papers are calculated per annum.

The average range of interest is from 10-13% depending on volume of investment. For someone that needs quick money I won't advise any, but if I have time for patience, you can go for bond.

Biticon, FX trading has quicker earning time. But market has vagaries, so proper knowledge must be intact before your expose yourself.

I believe bonds have better interest rates. The interest on fixed deposit these days is too low.

Bonds 5 to 10years with 14+% returns on maturity, that's if u can wait for money to work money and maybe you've got a business aside to support you till then.Or fixed deposit (I prefer CBN treasury Bills instead 11% risk free, tax free) for 30days 70days 180days 365days with 5-7% tax inclusive, Risk of bank winding up, unwanted roll over et al..

Fixed Deposit are short term in nature on the other hand Bonds have a long-term prospect. In my opinion fixed deposit is better so far u keep rolling over your capital and taking your interest after it matures.

Fixed deposits of less than 1 million at conventional rates are really poor investments in the average Nigerian bank.

Depends on the amount of money you're investing. Fixed deposit can give you a higher rate than bond.

Fixed deposit is never higher . Tbills is even higher and more secured . Even big bank customers that put millions into fixed deposit too . Their account officers negotiate the rate .yet it isn’t up to treasury bill

The banks try to negotiate a low interest rate with you and if you fall, they take your funds, invest in bonds or tb with higher interest rates. The difference between whatever interest rate they get and whatever interest rate they gave you is their FREE profit.

Oga, just be careful ooo... I didn't know shits until I lost all my cash this year. I could have been a millionaire but I listened to wrong advices and invested in a stupid business. Many are mad but only few are roaming. Depression con take over my life because I am this type that gets happy seeing my account balance green.
Invest in fixed deposit or bonds or treasury bills.

Do you know what I did?
Being someone that thinks to paper and acts from paper. I brought out a paper and pen.

I wrote down how much to be invested, thought about occurrences that may make me need the money urgently and how reliable is my current financial support.

In your own case, how much do you want to invest and is it something you may not be needing regardless how urgently you may need money.

Zenith tbills doesn't do less than a million, if you can't have patient with bond longevity, then go for tbills if the money is over half a million, since banks like GTbank do accept that.

In my own case because I really hate waiting and I can't deal with bond since our government policies can affect it and the country is not really stable and most shares due to same government policies are volatile. I split the money into four places, invested on fd,tbills respectively, then for the remaining two I bought two cars, one for e-hailing services and the other for outright higher purchase. I was using the both dividends to reinvest on fd and tbills and they did- still doing tremendously well as we speak.

If the money is over 5-10mill then go for bond, knowing fully well you have the patience and can stand the risk- yes I said RISK, because that's what it is in all ramifications. Thinking about government ill policies and what if the country ends up parking up/splitting up.

My two cents tho.

So what happens when the value of the share price does not appreciate much after a LONG period of time.

And i am observing that nobody is putting the loss in value of money over time.

Money losses value. 1million naira as at January cannot be the same in value after 12 months.

Whatever profit you make from whatever investment that cannot accommodate the loss in value of your capital and still have breathing space is not good.

If u want a short term investment, go for Fixed deposit, u can as well rollover ur capital as many times as possible. Bond is a long term investment, d benefit comes little by little depending on d number of units u have. Bond is risky though, because u can't predict if it will go up or crash. Fixed deposit or Treasury Bill.

If u are to fixed money p.. Please don't fixed it in any of this commercial bank. Try a reliable microfinance and fixed your money there. They have a high interest rate

I really don't take all these shares things seriously. People are just looking for how to collect you money either legitimately or illegitimately.

They are both good if u have idle fund...

There are better options in terms of rates and tenor. Try to study about Treasury Bills and Money Market Funds (MMF). I bet you, the right answer is in your hand!

Bonds is not the same as shares...Anyways, the choice depends on your risk appetite. Shares has unlimited upside and could deliver very good returns but as we all know, you could also lose your entire investment. Fixed deposit is safer. But then, why not do tbills? It's safer than fixed deposit and yields more returns.
