I don't think the US would lose. For one I expect Poland would purchase more F-35s, maybe 30 more. Finland would most likely purchase the F-35 to replace their legacy F/A-18s. Switzerland fighter tender, the F-35 would win that.

The US Air Force would most likely order more to cover up any potential losses from Turkey.

The absolute biggest loser is Turkey. They've been kicked out off the F-35 programme along with 12 billion dollars in potential business. They have now put their ATAK Helicopter programme at high risk. The engines come from the US, nobody would want to buy an Helicopter which is sanctions prone.

The engine for their Tank, I believe that's also American. The programme is now at risk.

Potential military relations with the US, by extension NATO would now be very specific.

Frankly, for a nation like Turkey, the F-35 should be a far more important asset than the S-400. It's not worth the risk.

They can go for the SU-35 or the SU-57 now.
what makes F-35 far more important than S-400? Is it because Russia is showing restrain in using them against Israel in Syria?

If the Su 35 can track the f22 ,then the f35 would be child's play.

So less you forget turkey also manufacture some components of the f35.

THE GREAT AK TRIBE: As far as I can tell these are all the variants from all the major makers from Russia,Romania,Serbia,China;the original AK 47,the Krinkov SMG and the latter AK 12s. We should be able to ID them as they're overwhelmingly popular in these parts!

the f35 is supposed to be more advanced than the 22, but i don't get why nobody is ordering for the 22. why is the US selling a more advanced fighter and refusing to sell the 22?

because f22 tech is not available for sell.the f22 stealth tech is way advanced than that of f35
F35 is only advance because the US is refusing to upgrade the f22

One of the technical reason why f22 cannot be released for export is becz the f22 was solely built for domestic use and as such it's components don't have the usual anti reverse engineering countermeasures built in.

and since their manufacturing has stopped long ago , it is impossible to built insitu safeguards into those components and prohibitively expensive. Also the tech used then for f22 isn't compatible as such with current tech.

The one thing I have come to admire about Trump though is that he has a big mouth and he says whatever he is thinking, which means you can have an honest conversation with him (Just watch the Video) and he will be willing to make a win-win deal. ... So you can't rule out some form of future negotiation between Turkey and US That will allow Turkey to still corporate with US outside of the F-35 Program. As for now Turkey is Suspended from the F-35 Program but not yet removed.. Anything can happen between now and then.

Other than the al Qaeda press part u got me completely wrong. Maybe it's my fault I should have elaborated.

U overlooked the context when I said u name a enemy u make him one .

When it comes to nations, nobody closes the door completely even when they r at each other's throat.

The Americans don't want push the Turks as a nation to the other side completely. Erdogan is not Turkey , and Turkey is not Erdogan. Politicians will come and go , one can afford to antagonise them but one cannot do the same with a country as a whole.

Regarding the non delivery of Patriot Sam , the issue was with the refusal of Americans to give ToT for the same.

Coincidentally neither r the Russians giving ToT for the S400 to the Turks.

From where I stand
The S400 issue is to cut down Erdogan to size , forget the Americans , EU is right down doing more damage. Since it is not headlines nobody is interested.

Anyways between Americans Russians and Turks the only one who stands to loose either way is Turkey. Think about it .

Got it,

Russia will never ToT the S400 given how the Americans are obsessed(More like afraid) with it... Maybe after 10 years when the S500 comes online..
When you think about it the ToT that the turks were to get from the f-35 program would have been priceless, now they have gone back to being just another client with the Russians if they go for the Su-35 . But who knows, maybe after missing out on the f-35 they will use that butt hurt as motivation to start their own new thing where they will have more control like what Pakistan got from the JF-17 program.

IMO transfer of ToT of S400 by the Russians to Turkey has nothing to do with fear of America getting access to it. It's all about keeping the leverage.

Best way to exert control over others is to make them dependent on u in whatever way possible.

1. All export versions of S400 r monkey versions ( including Ind.... ones incase u get to wondering ). Even then Russians will have enough safeguards built in both equipment wise and in bilateral agreements to make any attempt at compromise tough to get through.

Even if breach happens Russian version will retain its potency since critical components which can make or break the system r not same with the export variants.

2. In terms of credibility in bilateral relations Turkey as of now is at its lowest . No nation likes turncoats and will keeps its options available even when at the best of terms for any possible breach of trust.

3. When elephants dance it's best for ants to move out of harm's way. Turkey is stretched out its neck too far and has placed itself in a position where it has to pick a side , either way it will end up getting banged.

4. There's is a lot of confusion regarding ToT among people, one needs to understand the difference between " know how " and " know why ".

5. Motivation can get u only so far without having the said capabilities . Turkish defence industry was doing well till now riding on the experience and help of American European and Asian defence companies . If that gets cut off it remains to be seen how far they will go.
