Col. Kinsgsley E. Elemele, according to reports gathered by Igbere TV, who happens to be the Chief of Staff to 29 Task force Brigade lost his life in recent line of battle with Boko Haram in Borno state.


It was earlier reported on Thursday that a Nigerian army colonel including five other gallant soldiers were killed in an ambush by rebel fighters in northeast Nigeria's Borno state.


According to the reports, heavily armed fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) group on Wednesday, opened fire on a patrol vehicle of soldiers who were on their way to Maiduguri from Damaturu, the capital of neighbouring Yobe state, when the rebels attacked them around 16:20 GMT, near Jakana, 30km from the state capital Maiduguri, killing all the soldiers on board.


The attack was repelled by soldiers at the base, with ISWAP fighters abandoning weapons and one vehicle as they fled.

Igbere TV gathers that the attacks came hours after a military chief in the northeast warned "terrorists" in the region to disarm or be destroyed.


So many soldiers and civilians have been lost within the course of the war and the battle is beginning to seem like one which will end in a Pyrrhic victory for the nation.

My heart bleed and i weep for this country. Our gallant. Soldiers are been killed at a battle filed. So so sad he could have been giving away. Base on the story he worn them to drop there arms oh be destroyed .they arm Bush and killed him.are God see his beautiful family he left behind. Very painful to be honest RIP to our gallant falling soldier .

Because Nigeria's unity is not negotiable, that's the falsehood which northern leaders implanted in the heads of all Nigerians after north restructured Nigeria from 1967 to 1996 to suit northern region, then use Nigeria armed forces to sustain the falsehood.

In fact they outnumber the south by like 20:1 in military recruitment, but when ever i read about Boko Haram casualties, it's mostly southern military forces. Why are the pampered northern forces not at the war front? Why are they scattered at road blocks all over the south? Are these people deliberately reducing the southern fighteforces

Left for me, only soldiers who are Muslims and are from the north should be made to fight this Boko Haram thing.
The jihad ideology behind this boko Haram thing is based on their devilish Islamic belief, so why will people of other faith, religion and cultural belief be made to suffer and die for nothing for it?

If they think boko Haram is really on a wrong Islamic ideology, then they should only counter them with only Islamic soldiers who they think has the right ideology, not sacrificing innocent Christians for the cause ... or is that not what even the so called jihad is all about?

I stopped commenting on these issues essentially because it is too frustrating and painful.

Normally their should be an inquisition of sorts to establish the WHY & HOW and ensure that it never happens again, but rather its all swept under the carpet. The number of senior officers that are falling to this rag tag militia should tell us SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG, because the number of NCO's that have fallen may be in the 000's.

But back to the WHY,

Unfortunately our legislative arms that should have oversight function are so IN-DEPTH IGNORANT and INEPT they allow the situation to continue without question or could they be also ENDEMICALLY CORRUPT Too another big part of the problem.

Your observation is wrong please. Each state has almost an equal number of slots according to the federal character principle.
We have also lost Col.Ali A war hero in this fight against Boko Haram. Infact, the other officer killed alongside Col.Kenneth Eze Elemele is Captain Muhammad
