Whole article reads bogus in the face of its flimsy, unrealistic and vague narrative. For instance, five unspecified soldiers (unless names of soldiers and photos are in the public domain unknown to me) absoconded with monies meant for some unspecified person or persons. What monies, what happened to bank transfers, are we talking of bullion vans heading from one relevant financial institution to another, e.g, banks, and why would military risk accusations of murky financial dealings by making public this news and if army did not make it public why are they not forthcoming with clarifications.
it seems you don't live in Nigeria, or you no dey hear latest news.

Nigeria is collapsing. Keeping El zakzakay in detention and disobeying court orders is bad for Nigeria's health.

The Shiites are ready and eager to die, from what I witnessed today. If they get a way to fight back, buhari would rule Nigeria from Bamako.

If zakzakay dies in detention, there's no negotiating with his followers.
About 2-3 court ordered that El zakazy to be released, but the useless FG keeps on disobeying court order. Rampaging Fulani herdsmen that are killing people up and down the country are been pampered, but the useless FG is about to create another monster just the way the Nigerian police killed the leader of boko haram in cell after he was handed over to them by the military during the tenure of yaradua.

I think the man should be released and place under heavy security.

But nah dem sabi. All their fights, disturbance and killings should be restricted to the north.

TROOPS DISMOUNT BANDITS’ AMBUSH AS NAF LOSES 2 PERSONNEL IN GUN DUEL

Troops of 271 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Detachment, Birnin Gwari on Monday, 22 July 2019, at about 5pm dismounted an ambush set up by armed bandits at Kawan Pole Waya, about 20km from Birnin Gwari along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road. The gallant troops were able to fight their way through the ambush to the side of Birnin Gwari and called for reinforcement. Unfortunately, 2 NAF personnel paid the supreme price in the process. The personnel, Flying Officer Abdulrahman Bayero and Aircraftman Saidu Bawa, are scheduled to be buried today in accordance with Islamic rites.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on behalf all officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian staff of the NAF, commiserates with the families of the fallen heroes and prays that the Almighty grants their souls peaceful repose. The CAS, who was at Birnin Gwari on Saturday, 20 July 2019, on an assessment visit, has urged all NAF personnel to remain resolute and continue to work assiduously, in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies, to rid the Northwest of all criminal elements.

MEDIA BRIEF ON ACTIVITIES OF OPERATION HADARIN DAJI AND OPERATION THUNDER STRIKE FROM 10 MAY - JULY 2019

1. Gentlemen of the press, I welcome you to this important media brief on the activities of Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) and Operation THUNDER STRIKE (OPTS). These operations were launched in responsive compliance with the strategic directive by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), President Muhammadu Buhari to effectively tackle the spate of security challenges confronting some states in the North Western part of the country. The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) after careful evaluation of the security situation, reinvigorated its anti-banditry operations with the launch of Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) and Joint Task Force Operation THUNDER STRIKE (JTF OPTS). This media brief will therefore, acquaint the general public with the activities of OPHD and OPTS.

OPERATION HADARIN DAJI
2. The Defence Headquarters on 10 May 2019, reorganized operation SHARAN DAJI which was launched to curtail armed banditry, kidnapping and other sundry crimes within Zamfara state and its environ. The new operation was reorganized and reinvigorated with the acquisition and injection of new platforms and additional manpower. This new operation therefore subsumed earlier independent operations by the services and other agencies. Thus, presenting a common and united front for joint operations by the Armed Forces and other security agencies (including the Nigeria Police, Department of State Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps) in tackling armed banditry in North Western part of the country. In order to reflect the jointness of the new security outfit, the nomenclature was changed from Operation SHARAN DAJI to Operation HADARIN DAJI and a Force Commander in the person of Major General Jide Ogunlade was appointed to command the Joint Operations.
3. This reorganization is already yielding results as the joint troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI have recorded several significant achievements in the theatre of operations. Since inception, troops of OPHD have recorded strings of successes against the criminals, including a daring rescue operation in which troops neutralized 54 armed bandits in an encounter in fortified enclaves in Moriki, Madada and Dumburum forests in Zamfara state. Several assorted fire arms were also recovered from the bandits.
4. It will suffice to mention that in the last 2 months, since the commencement of the joint operations, the gallant troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI have in series of successful encounters rescued over 50 kidnapped victims and neutralized about 78 armed bandits from various fortified enclaves in Zamfara and contiguous states. The troops have also recovered a total of 39 firearms which include 16 AK 47 rifles, 1 Light Machine Gun, 14 Dane guns, 2 Pump action rifles, 3 semi-automatic rifles, 3 pistols and 2,437 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Additionally, over 25 suspected armed bandits have been arrested and recovered 14 motor cycles used by them. The bandits are currently undergoing preliminary investigations, after which they will be handed over to appropriate prosecuting agencies.
5. On the realization, that bandits were generating financial resources through cattle rustling to fund their criminality, troops of OPHD also embarked on anti-cattle rustling operations, which led to the interception and stalling of cattle rustling activities. This culminated in the recovery of 2,278 cows, which have been duly returned to their respective owners.
6. Presently, the troops are jointly dominating flashpoints with aggressive land and aerial patrols, amongst others to deny the bandits freedom of action. It should not go without mention, that the aggressive operations of the joint troops of OPHD has restored some sanity in the security situation in Zamfara and its environ, which has dovetailed into the ongoing peace process and reconciliatory engagements in the region. Additionally, OPHD is currently shaping the environment to make the state conducive for reactivation of farming and other socio-economic activities. This has so far, contributed immensely to the gradual restoration of economic progress of the state.
OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION THUNDER STRIKE
7. The problems of insecurity orchestrated by kidnappers, bandits, cattle rustlers, and other criminal activities along major highways and adjoining villages around Kaduna-Abuja axis reached alarming proposition some few months back. This necessitated several security operations and exercises to assist the Nigerian Police in tackling these criminal menaces. Realizing the gaps in these earlier measures, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) under the leadership of the Chief of Defence State (CDS) General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, constituted the Joint Task Force Operation THUNDER STRIKE (JTF OPTS). The operation had the mandate to reorganize and coordinate the existing security structures along the road and rail line in order to bring the situation under control.
8. The JTF OPTS has so far recorded some milestone successes, as several suspected kidnappers and bandits have been arrested, with arms and ammunition recovered from the criminals in the last 2 months of operation. In the conduct of the operations, troops of JTF OPTS were able to identify a number of black spots along Abuja-Kaduna highway, such as Jere, Katare, Rijana, Kurmi-karshi, Gidan-mamman Black-gold and Gidan-guza, where criminals unleashed attacks on unsuspecting and innocent road users. Premised on this discovery, troops embarked on series of fighting patrols to dominate the highway and rail line. Cordon and search operations were also carried out to mop up illegally acquired fire arms in the hands of identified criminal gangs, while security escorts were provided for farmers and road users. These operations led to the successful interception and arrest of 14 suspected kidnappers, while 6 bandits were neutralized. In a unique occurrence, troops while on aggressive patrol along Abuja-Kaduna highway discovered a group of bandits dressed in military camouflage who would have been ordinarily perceived by unsuspecting members of the public as military personnel on routine checks along the highway mounted an illegal road block. The courageous troops moved tactically to the scene, engaged them in a fire fight and neutralized the bandits.
9. The troops have so far recovered a total of 38 firearms comprising, 11 AK 47 rifles, 1 Semi-automatic rifle, 1 Revolver Pistol, 23 Dane guns, 2 locally made pistols, 157 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, 8 cartridges, 2 AK 47 magazines, 5 Mobile phones and 4 solar panels. Other recoveries made by the troops include 7 Motor cycles used by bandits and 695 cattle. The cows have been returned to their respective owners.
10. May I at this juncture, use this window of opportunity to reassure Nigerians, particularly, inhabitants of Kaduna, Zamfara and the contiguous states that the military and the security agencies are fully committed to guaranteeing your safety and security. I equally wish to encourage members of the public not to be intimidated, but to promptly report suspicious movements and activities in your localities to the nearest security agency. I urge you to please remember to “say something, when you see something”. Together we can collectively rid our nation of criminality and promote peaceful coexistence. Thank you for your attention.

Here is a piece I wrote on a blog recently while commenting on the El-Zakzaky issue. I am posting here because it came up.

El-zakzaky: Preventing a Shiite revolution

As the Islamic Movement in Nigeria continues violent protest in Abuja,in a calculated bid to force the government to free their leader, Sheikh El-zakzaky, from detention,we must once again not get carried away by the flood of sympathy for the percieved victims (the IMN) and beer palour outrage at the percieved antics of the government, which is exactly the view that the Shiites wants to cultivate among the populace.

As much as freedom of religion is enshrined in the Nigerian constitution,it is however a very severe crime to build a personality cult and a group that opposes the sovereignty of the nation. What many Nigerians may not know is that the IMN was created as a vehicle for not only proselytizing people to Shia Islam, but also to ultimately bring about a Shiites revolution in Nigeria, similar to the Iranian revolution of 1979. Ibrahim El-zakzaky, a man once alleged to have made the statement, "there is no government but the government of Allah", has proven to be a fishbone in the throat of successive governments in Nigeria through provocative speeches and yearly mass processions causing public unrest; both of which are criminal at best and treasonable at worst. If there was ever a chance that Nigeria would be islamized,it would most probably be by the IMN-led Shiites,if allowed to continue unchecked. In the case of Sheikh Zakzaky, one can only wonder if this is all one man's megalomania or a grander Iranian plot to ship off its system of "guardianship of the Islamic jurist" to Africa.

It is therefore my opinion that the federal government proscribes IMN and it's affiliates before the situation gets out of hand. A group whose followers takes inspiration from the radical theocracy of Iran and practically worship it's leader in the same form that the Iranians revere the Ayatollahs, poses a danger to a secular democracy such as Nigeria.

Sheikh Zakzaky must remain in protective custody not just to prevent him from having freedom to plot further mischief, but also to protect him from harm. It should be understood that if such a personality were to die,he becomes a matyr and the centrepiece for an insurgency(in the spirit of Boko Haram's Mohammed Yusuf). Wouldn't it then make sense that those who would want to destabilize the nation would need only to kill him and blame the government?. In this case, should El-zakzaky be free to roam unprotected, it could spell doom for peace in Nigeria.

As much as we must have utmost respect for judicial processes in Nigeria,we must also recognise that there are times when national interest supercedes rule of law.

Troops of the 16 Brigade of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday allegedly invaded the Azagbene community in the Ekermor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and burnt down houses after chasing away residents.

The rampaging soldiers were said to be in search of suspected militants who allegedly killed two of their colleagues guarding a crude oil facility in the area.

According to a community source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the armed suspected militants had come in a speedboat on Monday night and open fire on the unsuspecting soldiers.

While two of the soldiers died in the surprise attack, one of their colleagues was missing while their rifles were carted away.

He said the attack on the soldiers might have provoked their colleagues as stern looking troops on Tuesday morning invaded the community, burnt houses while the villagers scampered into the bush for safety.

“When the soldiers entered our community, they directed us to leave because they were going to burn everything to the ground and that anybody that failed to comply with the directive would be killed.

“Before some of us left the community, I saw the building of our paramount ruler on fire. Even my family house had been burnt to the ground. As I speak with you, we are suffering for a crime we didn’t commit.”

When contacted, the spokesman for the 16 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Danjuma Jonah, confirmed the death of two of its personnel but denied burning down houses in the community.

He said, “Our men did not burn down houses in Azagbene community. We are only combing the community and neighbouring towns in search of one soldier that is missing as a result of the attack that led to the death of two other soldiers. We are carrying out the search for the missing soldier in conjunction with the leaders of the community.

“So, that is what is going on now. I cannot give you the details of the operation until it’s over.”

In a related development, residents of Inen community in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have fled their homes over alleged planned reprisal by soldiers.

The soldiers, it was learnt, were planning to attack the community over the killing of two of their colleagues and the abduction of an expatriate worker which occurred last week at a construction site in the LGA by unknown gunmen.

But the leaders of the community have denied allegations that their people were behind the killing of the two soldiers and the abduction of the expatriate worker.

The Head in Council of Inen Clan, Johnson Obosi, who spoke at a media conference held at the Oruk Anam Local Government Council, said those behind the act would not go unpunished.

Obosi added that as a border community linking it with other local government areas and Rivers State, the perpetrators were able to enter the community to commit the crimes.

He appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, to reactivate the abandoned police post in the community by providing it with the necessary manpower and logistics to provide protective cover for the area and its environs.

Obosi said, “This sad news shocked our community and clan in general because, for a long time, we have not had sporadic gun shots of such magnitude.

“This episode which occurred in a commando style was not only mindboggling but devastating, causing panic and tension in our community.

“As we speak, some villagers have fled their places of abode to neighbouring communities for fear of the unknown.

“The Clan-in-Council, leaders of thought and the entire Inen community, condemn and disassociate ourselves from this unfortunate incident and we will be willing to lend support to the authority to ensure freedom for the expatriate.”

The youth President, Mr John Adaedem, who also condemned the attack, exonerated the youths of the area of the crimes and assured the military that they would cooperate with the relevant security agencies to track down the kidnappers.

Boko haram is showing the Nigerian military hell in the north east, Fulani herdsmen/bandits are giving them a good run for their money in the North west. I will keep on standing my ground, this military is only powerful against unarmed civilians. If that community in bayelsa is as armed and brutal as boko haram a single military personnel won't have returned there, they would have maneuver tactically into rivers state grin

Two military personnel are killed in a community, what's the fault of people living in that community When this same set of personnel are posted to borno now they will start crying.

On July 21 a village called zango was overrun in katstina in the evening, the bandits burnt houses, farmlands and people properties and lots of people were killed, this useless ragtag military and the police were no where to be found.

There is a little difference between the Nigeria military, federal government, state government, local government, boko haram, Fulani herdsmen, armed bandits and the Nigerian police. They are the cause of sorrow, tears and blood to most of we law abiding and well behave citizens.

The Shiites are ready and eager to die, from what I witnessed today. If they get a way to fight back, buhari would rule Nigeria from Bamako.

If zakzakay dies in detention, there's no negotiating with his followers.

Which stupid court granted his release? If he continues with the Iranian intelligence agenda in Nigeria, can the court save you?
The black man has no knowledge of national interest vs constitutional justice.
Im sure the same court will grant Shekau a leave, thats what is called cash and carry justice, howeve,r SSS must do what is necessary to keep us safe, fvck the courts!
