Even the votes is scam. They already know the winner (at least the finalists) before hand.

Are they less Nigerian because they are privileged?

At the end of the day, it is a private enterprise aiming to entertain, and to make money too!

If you are not entertained, kindly switch channels.

It is a social experiment, stop hating.

Pepper dem is the slogan.

You sir, are peppered!

Even though I don't support any sort of censorship on the show, as long as they comply with the law, I have lots of misgivings.
First the contestants do not represent the average Nigerian with the average Nigerian values. The organisers already know the character traits of the type of person they are looking for, and majority of Nigerians don't fit.
The sad part is that foreigners watching the show would use the show to stereotype the average Nigerian.

My heart goes out to my Airforce dropout friend who lost his phone and some memory cards when he was teargassed at the audition venue.
How did he even think he will be selected when the 5-star Money General had dumped him?

Nepotism and the Naija factor is most evident in the BBNaija2019 housemate selection.

Jackye an ex-beauty queen is an acquaintance with Dolapo Osinbanjo who is a cousin to Seyi who has affiliations with PR firms who handle adverts for multinational sponsors like BetNaija, DSTV and MTN.

Mike whose dad is Jamaican is a wealthy British Athlete who owns a Cigar brand. Mike does not speak Yoruba neither can he speak pidgin.

Avala is well known as an underground Nigerian US singer. Tacha is a well-celebrated 30BG groupie.
Nelson was Mr Universe.

Mercy is a video vixen and popular in the entertainment and social hookup industry...she happens to also have known Ike before here.
Remember, Ike's first time in Nigeria was to get into the BBNaija house.

Omashola is known to help make Naija stars "feel at home" when they're in South Africa.

Gedoni is a budding designer who may have gifted a few celebrities and presenters some of his works for bigger publicity, he also happens to have had a relationship with former beauty queen KimOprah in the past whose pageant exposure may have exposed her to a few people on the selection panel.

Frodd is a hustler whose path has crossed with those of a few celebrities with the ability to put in a word for him.

I can authoritavely confirm to you that at least 4 of the housemates use foreign passports.
How do they represent the crop of true Nigerian youths?

And stupid Bilikisu is borrowing airtime from MTN to vote for the undeserving housemates.

I'm envious of the gift of discernment God has bestowed on you....I so much agree with your views but I'm of the opinion the organizers already have their criterion for selection which remains exclusive to them...but my grouse is, why subject human(Nigerians: intending participants) to these tortuous recruiting process when you knew it'll count for nothing....
Why not state clearly e.g 10 foreigners & 11 home based... Whoever that is willing will measure his/her chances simple

Why not call the 'big people' and organise auditions for them instead of wasting the precious time of ignorant Nigerian youths who hardly learn.

See someone who knows the most about the show! Papa BBNaija!
Oga they don't need to call the big people for anything, they call everybody then when you come they audition you and the things they find about you determines if they pick you or not, stop making it to look like its for the rich or established only, it not, if you have got what they are looking for, they pick you and by the way no body came to your house to drag you to go for audition in the first place, so you guys should just stop all these unnecessary noise.

The answer is simple.

Just like an employer picks out new workers from a sea of applications, Big Brother seeks or scouts new housemates with the qualities they are looking for. Your "CV" includes having a stake in the entertainment world eg

-former beauty queen
-model
-Instagram famous
-well educated or
-has potential to win their own fan base who will vote for them..

And so much more. While some are "invited" to audition based on being noticed by bigwig in the industry or are friends with a big wig. Eg

Mike is friends with Ebuka
Ike is friends with Uti
Omashola knows every freaking body in the celeb world

And so on...

BBNaija And Its Mysterious Selection Process

Every year, thousands of Nigerian youths troop to various audition centres across the country in a fierce and dangerous selection process in order to partake in the Big Brother Naija Reality Show. No doubt, many have lost vital possessions while some sustained various degrees of injuries. I for one, has never been a fan of this show because I'm still trying to figure out what the show is all about and of what benefit it is to the Nigerian youths. It seems the only things promoted on this show are sex, alcholol, party and more sex. Nevertheless, I'd like to leave this aspect for another time. The focus of this article is the selection process for housemates on the BBNaija show.

Why is it that MOST folks who found their way to the BBNaija show seemed to be connected to some notable figures in one sector or the other in Nigeria? Why is that MOST of them had already gotten some degree of popularity before they were selected as BBNaija housemates? Why is it that MOST of them had already gotten some exposure living abroad before they were selected as BBNaija housemates? Is there a secret behind this that we do not know or is it just a coincidence? Some persons might want to point out Efe Ejebah, BBNaija winner 2016 edition as a contrast to my opinion but I believe we can all read. It is the same reason I used uppercase for the 'most' for those who find it difficult reading between lines in write-ups like this very one. If you are good in Statistics and research writing in Social Sciences, you would understand the importance or essence of respondents. If you are not, I will use a layman's language that you would understand better. In a series of occurrences, there is a frequency which happens to be the highest occurrence. When series of events occur, the event/factor with the highest occurrence is used to judge situations.

Now, what are the criteria for selecting people into the house by BBNija organizers? Is it age, fluency in English, wealth, fame, international exposure, educational background, beauty/handsomeness, sultriness or pure connections? Why do we always see people who want to act 'foreign' in BBNaija editions? Why can't we have Nigerian youths from all walks of life in the show? I mean, why can't we have Idemudia, Oghenerukevwe, Olawole, Idris or Obinna who has never tasted the slightest amount of luxury in life ever before? I am sure this category of people take part in the auditions every year. How come most of these housemates have featured in one advert, music video or movie before?

There are so many questions many Nigerian youths do not bother to ask before trooping out every year to take part in the BBNaija auditions which I consider a high profile entertainment scam!!!

Any entertainment show where the selection process is clouded in secrecy and not spelt out absolutely is not worth the stress of right-thinking youths.

Kelvin Ukachukwu (Rapmoney) is a media consultant.
It's purely a business strategy for multichoice if they get people who are already made the fan base of the show would multiply the only way to kill Big Brother is to get a multitude of fans to stop watching it which is not possible that's their selection process it's just as corrupt too they don't need people who are just there with no popularity the next one might have straight up porn stars

The rich educated elite dont know much. They just know how to monetize everything. Eventually the Christ came from amist the poor.

Ask the rich to explain God they start telling you its an unusually auction that will catarport you into a Devine realm...blah blah...hiding behind big grammers to say I am clueless. Thank God christ saw through there bullshiiits and was like "it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a niddle than for these class of people to enter my kingdom.

The poor do everything from interest and love first. The rich elite do things few minute and the next they want to see money come out. See what they have made of God now. When the elite interpreted God it leans towards finance cus that's were there interest lies. The poor do more for comfort and peace for it's soul.

The poor owns the culture and art the music. The rich/ elite learns from them institutionalise it put an elite seal on it. Like if you do not learn it my way and I give you a certificate, you not a musician or an artist. Imagine. Something they themselves observe the poor doing. If you really want to see real culture you will need to go to interior villages. The same as true arts. Or true religions. Try find a true "medicine baba"in the city.

If I want to be entertain I put some money in my pocket and go to my getho. I buy 50 naira hot for the street boys and let things take effect. The laughter I get, my guy ay show has got nothing on it.

That's it! ..the poor in many social arrangement got the real sauce. Football globally have been more rationalize and technicalise. the best footballers currently come through the academies. But every now so often a Maradona comes from the street and just bulldoze it's way through there academic structures. They have no choice but to learn from him.

Consider the music would not be the music industry today if not for the street culture inputes.

Many of the ays and basket mouth were funny coming fresh from the streets. Now they have made their mansion in ikoyi l, Island and spend more time with the rich elites. There jokes have become stale and boring.

I feel sorry for Nigerians watching this show. They will never know what scam is. It's bunch of elites forcing there idea of entertainment on you. It piss me off even further because the majority of Nigerians live below the average socio economic mark. The show does not reflect their socio cultural realities. Except for the insecure once seeking elsewhere identities.

This organizer could just go to the getho and do auditions. They will find find have crazy and sane humans that balance both act well and honestly. Then go to the suburban and do theaame.

Tag it clash of styles..let's see entertainment for once.

Poor dudes will bitchhh slap the aje kids with unrehares energetic performance It won't even feel like a show. Because with getho kid, Reality is what they want it to be. You can't box them. They don't act with script. But rest in the knowledge that before the end of the show, everyone will be entertained.

Although Efe was already a bit popular, he was still an average player in the show then.

I think they learnt a lesson being that "stick an average Nigerian admist the rich ones in the show and he comes out ontop, even if he lacks talent of any sort"

the poor are more than the rich in numbers and will always stick for their own
