Bro, you were asked that too?...were you interviewed on the 9th at the ITD building? That was my first time hearing of it. I studied Electronic Product Design (BSc) and Information Systems (MSc) so that question was completely unexpected. I blabbed for a few minutes and then the HSE guy interrupted me and was like, "okay, what are the techniques used to achieve it? Mention 5" and that's how I froze embarassed. Towards the end, the chief panelist rephrased the question and asked me why CDM was important. I managed to answer and the HSE guy came again to repeat the question "what are the technologies or techniques used to achieve what you just spoke about?" Again I froze. Anyways, it's all in God's hands. I could have said something but I just wasn't sure

Ukodo1123:
That question concerning CDM was a dangerous question

For posterity purpose, I will indeed like to join my fellows in sharing my NNPC CBT and interview experience.
It was indeed a great experience, firstly when I saw history listed as one of the courses required for GT application, I was much elated. The CBT was a technical one, I was the first to finish @my whole centre (Ui dlc centre). God's grace, I got the oral interview invite.
I could remember how I was amazed at the NNPC structure and how I fell in love at first sight. I interviewed on 5th July, Panel 28.
I could remember a guy that studied English while waiting for interview, he asked one of the ushers for a cup of water, specifically a warm/hot water, with the claim of his need to make his voice more audible and confident. grin grin grin, baba drink water finish, na so him voice enter lowkey....tension don carry am commot...(if you're reading this, I miss your expression).
So, I requested to sit
1 first question was asked by the chief panelist, a Yoruba man. He asked for the exact time I arrived for interview and what was I thinking while waiting at the quadrangle.
2. After that, he introduced the panelists and the first asked me to list just 5 challenges or success of NNPC, I asked as a historian we focus on both and if I could list some challenges and success, and they happily agreed. Listed 2 challenges and 3 success. Making 5.
3. Was asked a situational question on how I handled not meeting a particular deadline, got a positive vibe from them after answering
4. Was asked on how I solved a problem creatively, got a mini positive vibe
5. Was asked a discipline related question on Paleontology, paleontologist and paleology, they wanted to distort my thinking but I dealt nicely with the situation.. And lastly safety measures to adopt while fixing a bulb.
6. After all these, we started discussing on the role of history and it's relevance to NNPC, this part was really fun and we cracked jokes and all.
7. Was asked to ask a question, and I asked about their top competitors.
Funniest part was, I was interviewed immediately after a friend we studied at the same department, finished with the same grade, from the same state but different local government.
I pray to God for grace oooo.......I will quote this post to give thanks on receiving my APL with my fellow local men and women very soon!. God's grace!
Signed
Zonal secretary, Local men committee for NNPC

The first question I was asked after the chief panelist interrupted my introduction was

"What is Mosquito Control"?

That question shook me.

I didn't know what my concern with Mosquito is or should be. I got jittery but managed to answer in my own way.

How many of us were asked about Mosquito?

The panelist informed me that he needed to sight my documents so I gave them to him. He gave them back at the end of the interview

Gbyms:

But I was think that the people that were there for ushering us to sit immediately we enter when they tell us to move to the front for the rearranging of our file.
I did not know how it became job of chief panelist. Hope I did not did anything wrong as I didn’t give in my original. Imagine if it has a marks

I noticed the interview schedule based on discipline too. Almost everyone from Lagos was interviewed on different dates. Like I was interviewed on 11th, GT statistics.
c12112:
When we all remember that an average of 900 people did interview per day, then would we realize that we all need to be sober.

And BTW, interview schedules was based on the role you applied for, not state. On the day of my interview for instance, PH, Lagos were there.

4 days earlier, a colleague of mine who did CBT with me same time and same centre had his interview but he applied for a different role and he confirmed he was on his panel with people with similar roles.

I will repeat, APL will be based on roles vs FCC.

Peace!

July 1st, panel 38. I went with full smiles because I and my fellow GT interviewees were cracking jokes and making fun as we were waiting for our turn. They were a nice bunch. Went in the panel chairman welcomed me and they all introduced themselves, and I was asked to do same. Then we went into the interview proper. They didn't ask me anything related to NNPC. Just situational questions, definition of pollution and to give examples, then a question from my cv and the HSE question ask was that; what are the safety measures to take when driving a car. Finally they HSE guy asked me if I can drive (I still don't know the reason for this question). I was asked if I had any questions for them and I asked; what are the opportunities for advancement as a GT. The panel chairman answered and that was it. He made a joke about my tie and we both laughed it off. In all I will say the interview took about 5minutes because it was getting late already and there was still others waiting to be interviewed . I left the towers around 8pm. I wouldn't say I smashed the interview 100%, but I gave it my best and I was confident throughout the process even when I don't know what I am saying, I said it confidently undecided .

The CBT didn't seem easy to me. Lots of history and ICT questions. I struggled a bit.
I remember coming out of the hall and quickly bringing out my phone to browse answers to some of the questions I had tucked in my memory. Of the 6 questions I checked, I only got one correctly. That's the UN sec gen question.
Others like when Abuja became FCT, when Naira became the official currency, which continent Seychelles is in... I had selected wrong answers.
The invitation for interview, demonstrated HIS specific involvement.
The interview was so smooth, it felt surreal.
6 panelists. They asked me to name 4 courses I studied to earn my B.sc degree.
Was asked my project topic, they found the topic interesting and asked me to elaborate on my findings.
One of the panelists cut in and agreed with my findings, then related it with a funny experience he had and there was a lighter mood.
Situational questions of how I met a deadline, and how I creatively solved a problem were asked.
I was told to give two effects of the oil and gas sector to the economy. There was a good delay with the panelist scribbling, then one of the men beckoned on his colleague who went ahead to ask the safety question of changing a light bulb.
I look forward to a successful conclusion of the whole process by His Grace.
Cheers.

I would actually love Jarus to share his interview experience with us cheesy cheesy I'd like to know how he answered his questions

1. Difference between NOC and IOC

I told them and gave examples. Like 10 examples for NOC - NNPC (Nigeria), Aramco (Saudi), NIOC (Iran), KNOC (Kuwait), ADNOC (UAE/Abu Dhabi), Sonatrach (Algeria).....

They had to stop me and said "you seem to know so much about the industry" (I smiled)

2. Clauses in a gas sales agreement

Told them the common ones (Payment terms, price, measurement, volume, delivery, termination, force majeure, taxation, obligations, interpretations etc)

3. Unsafe act vs unsafe condition

Told them that one - unsafe act is any action that can lead to harm or injury blabla bla.Gave examples: "If we are 20 in this small room and the AC is not working, and we are all sweating under heat, that's an unsafe condition as it can lead to health issues; entering a project site without safety hat, an unsafe act

What will you do if you see any unsafe act or condition?

Correct if I can immediately and/or inform the safety officer

4. Inputs in a budgetinng process

Initially couldn't fathom what exactly they meant. Was just talking on budgeting process before I was asked for specific inputs and we discussed price and production forecast.

5. Tell me about a process you initiated before

Drew an example from my work

6. Tell me a time you needed to sell an idea

Drew an example from a time I needed to convince my senior mangement on a major tax issue blabla

A couple of other questions I cant remember

Interviewed on the 6th, 12pm.
I can't fuckn remember my panel, never noticed there was any panel nos doh.

They intro emselves when i entered, i was asked to sit before that doh.
The Chief Panelist asked me to Introduce myself, part of my intro was that, i had a brief stint with the Lagos State Safety Commission & then currently working with Lagos State blablabla, So he said, having worked with lagos state safety commission before, now Give me (5) safety tips you would advice a worker in a workplace. I could only mutter (4), without making a fuss about it, told him, I'll stop at the (4).
A woman, an hajia, asked me, if i have ever had a disagreement with my boss before, i said yes and then i find one Zobo give em, she vehemently asked after my narration, that, In all my story, i sha had a disagreement with my boss, i affirmed YES and then she scribbled something on her note.
One other man, asked me what cracking blablablabla is, this was my response "not that i didn't do it in chemistry, but right now, i can't remember, not to keep other candidates waiting long, I'll pass, that said, i am open to knowledge, so you could help me sir" one of the ogas nodded and told the Man(who asked me d qst) to help out, the Nigerianess in him kicked in by saying "No oooo oga, why i go tell am"
The next panelist, asked if i have ever been stressed, I said Yes, and then i gave him another Zobo.
The man, who asked me the cracking & fractional distillation qst, later asked me "what are the impacts of petroleum on the environment", gave him answers to the best of my knowledge..

I was asked, if i had a qst to ask em.
this was exactly my qst "God willing i was choosen, going forward, in the next 5 yrs, what would you expect to have been my accomplishment", The man explained what i already knew, i.e The GT program blablablabla

I was told, the interview had officially ended, it was then, my CV & documents were checked & retained, the man congratulated me on my 1st Class.
and then i take my leave.

I studied Envtl. Health @ HND & Envtl. Mgt & Toxicology @BSc., if you're wondering what course i was biased in.

On the CBT
The qsts i encountered, i wouldn't have had difficulties with em, even when i was in JSS3, it was later that i realize that, the qsts were random, some peoples face were grim & i be like, i didn't even use a calculator or do any workings, i guess pure luck, those who said simple qsts are usually the tricky one's, are not outrightly wrong, the tricky part comes from being overjoyed, as always, the moment you're overjoyed, you're over blind too, which implies, you're prone to simple oversights, until you come out & realize, you've fumbled for real.

On the alert...
I received alert first, the lady that interviewed before me too, have received, we both came from Lagos.
Whatever decision comes final from the mgt of NNPC, its alright be me, people like me, presently dey comfortable, i just want to be more, should NNPC fail to yield, their loss, I have my sight on several scholarships (full or partial) & heck, there are countries where Edu. is cheap (Austria, Germany, Italy), I have had previous offers from those countries.
I know plenty here, are comfortable too either working privately or for the Govt., We just have to hold our heads high & remain focus. funniest, na play play, I take apply ooo, heck, i was even reluctant to go write the CBT sef, hence why i was the last 9am that appeared that day.
Problem here, is that, most folk's here suffer from different complexes, the intimidated one's, the subjugated, the success infuriated one's etc, heck one guy even said as far as Jarus & Mosgoon never collect alert, his conviction of Non-Alertees are favored remains Olivine and I was wondering what will be his position, if Jarus & Mosgoon come out to say, that they've received alert. lolsss...

I like the mood in this thread today and I'll like to share my experience in details

No one here has mentioned applying for the role I applied for. So I would leave it out. Lol

I was interviewed on 11th, Panel 5, 7am. I was still being accredited when someone chatted me that my name had been called in the hall to go to my panel. I just laughed as I was about the last to be accredited around 9:30 or thereabout.

I was finally ushered to my panel around past 10. The usher showed me my name on the sheet and said I was supposed to be the first to be interviewed but 5 people had come before me so I was going to be the 6th. I was unruffled. Before you knew it it was my turn.

I got in and stood till I was told to sit and the panel chairman took time to eulogise me on how I applied, passed the test and after the screening of documents, they felt I was qualified hence my invitation to interview from amongst the millions that applied for various roles and wrote the CBT.

He went on to introduce the 4-man panel which included a woman. The secretary of the panel was sitting right behind me.

And then the interview proper started.

The chairman beckoned on the first man who said he had two questions for me:

1. How I was able to influence a decision in favour of a stakeholder in line with company goals
2. Have I ever gotten a negative feedback from a task I was assigned at work.

I had ready answers and by the time I was done answering the 2 questions, the man added another fa.

3. How I handled a rude employee at work.
I marshalled out my answer to the point where I told them I sent the employee on suspension and he asked me to stop that he was fine.

Then the only woman took turns to ask me 3 role specific questions. I will not talk about those so people will not guess my job role. She then added a 4th question

7. What are the values I'm bringing to NNPC.

Then the chairman asked me 2 questions with babies:

8a. What supply chain tools do you know?
8b. How has technology imparted supply chain?

9a. What safety precautions will I take in my work space?
By the time I was answering, I mentioned 5s and he asked me to define 5s.

10. Then the last man asked me 3 reasons why the refineries were not performing optimally.

Then the interview ended as I was given the opportunity to ask questions. I told them I had 2 but they insisted I asked only one. So I asked a question that they threw back at me and I answered.

I was about to stand up when the panel Chairman asked me if I had location preference when it's time to resume. I used a scenario based approach to answer and he nodded and I thanked them for having me.

Peace!

Problem here, is that, most folk's here suffer from different complexes, the intimidated one's, the subjugated, the success infuriated one's etc, heck one guy even said as far as Jarus & Mosgoon never collect alert, his conviction of Non-Alertees are favored remains Olivine and I was wondering what will be his position, if Jarus & Mosgoon come out to say, that they've received alert. lolsss...

Like one of my Big Bro who left NNPC for AIRTEL will say, Na Alubarika matter, in his word's, He knew, several folks working in NNPC, whose lives were miserable, they live in peasant luxury.

The thread have been fun, i had LMAO several times.

I wish everyone success fellaz.

Peace!

Why being coy about the role applied for?

My neighbour. Greetings from the land of beauty. Adamawa

Also asked about clean development mechanisms. I was hearing it for the first time too.
I never wanted to stay mute or accept the fact that I was clueless, so I went straight to methods for pollution control, ways to remediate land pollutions n other forms of pollution as a result of oil spillage chipped in Bioremediation thinking that it will be important as a biochemist and other different ways of pollution control. I don't know whether the panel chairman really heard what I was saying because he was writing through out my interview session. He only pause for a while and ask if I am done, I was later asked 2 situational questions and 1 safety question which I answered more convincingly than the first question. They had interest in my fictitious but convincing story. Finally they told me if I had a question for them. I asked them how can they assess my interview performance. They all busted into laughter and the chairman for the first time had interest in what I was saying and said "okay I can say you are confident". I thanked them and left.
By the way I rep. Jewel in the Savannah Gombe state
Waiting for God's favour.
