NYSC Discriminates Benin Trained Graduates & Refuses To Issue Their Certificates

After one year of rigorous service, my sister a 2018 batch B, Stream 2 Corp member was not issued her certificate because she schooled in Benin Republic.

This is so sad

Why the discrimination ?

And please what is the solution to help her get her certificate. She has been crying since yesterday.

NYSC is claiming that they got information that students from Benin Republic universities did not pass through the four walls of universities and all bought their degrees. I doubt this is true, but then, how can they (NYSC) judge thousands of students who schooled in Benin Republic because of the misdeeds of a few bad eggs.

I know nothing about the buying and selling of degree certificates in Benin Republic, but what I am very sure about is that my sister went to school and have studied seriously from year 1 to her final year, with me remitting her school fees, not even to her but directly to the bank account of her institution.

Why is NYSC now causing her pains by withholding her certificate and that of thousand other foreign students after waisting one year of National service. This is not fair! Please give us advice and help us create awareness.

Anyway, let’s stop the discrimination of Cotonou, Benin trained graduates! We have many smart people who went to school in Cotonou. Not everyone bought certificate! Many of them went genuinely to school! And not everyone can afford paying the lump sum of 500,000 for a certificate!

If most of them could afford 500k, wouldn’t they rather enroll in a private university in Nigeria than going to waste it on a degree in Cotonou?

Its actually my younger sister that has the issue and she has also travelled to Abuja with hope.

I really feel unhappy and sorry for her, because after all her hardwork, now this!

Update us on whatever your sis is told in abuja

I think they will release it after due investigation. You could recall that the DG said they will investigate all certificates emanating from Universities in Benin Republic. Most graduates from such schools can't read and write. Just be patient while they conclude their investigation. Stay calm!!

It was, I understand discharge certificate wasn't issued to any one coz they believe mostly all students were given their certificate for some fee without undergoing the normal schooling activities, some can't even read and write( The Hausa's )... I hope you got it now.

Save a life

It is way overdue as a matter of fact! So many universities in Benin, Ghana are not fit to be called universities and the mode of study may not even be full time... There has to be a list of NUC accredited universities in those countries...

BTW, NYSC DG said the students from Benin Republic dont know how to speak and Write in English due to corruption in the varsities. He asked the EFCC to investigate the matter.
So, just relax, your sister no sabi speak and write in English

They enrolled them for service and refused to give them certificates. That's Rubbish. It's wrong. Why waste their time and not give them certificates. When they screened their certificates during their orientation at the camp, they should have known those that are found wanting and separate them.
Certificate purchasers have put those who legitimately earn it in trouble.

If they are convinced they bought certificate they should not call them to camp at all and also they should put up a public notice to let everyone know that they won't accept certification from Benin republic.
If not that Nigeria education system is somehow why will people go to Benin republic to study in the first instance.

The truth is if u see those guys from Benin u would agree with NYSC

If you wan school abroad,
go to Europe, America, Cyprus, Asia
or other reasonable countries.

Which one be all these Benin, Mali,
Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger stuff.
Just to talk say mesef, "I Schooled abroad".

Instead of all these poverty stricken
third world countries, just pass JAMB &
attend a Nigerian university & save yourself

Your 'degree' is suspect!!

The sins of few bad eggs will affect many innocent ones. During my NYSC, I know of a Lagos boy who told me in clear terms that he pays only school then sort most of his lecturers during exams. His reason was that he was busy hustling.

Then again, another Fulani guy who could not express himself while we were in camp was also a product of Benin Republic school.....

NYSC should investigate this I'll and help NUC and Fed Mind of Edu do their work.

The honest truth is that most Benin graduates in recent times purchased their certificates. I know of a school in Benin and not the only one that would issue you a degree in 9months... Two of their "supposed graduates" well known to me are currently serving.

I doubt they would be issued discharge certificates...
