Is their job not for taking graduates from Higher Institutions and enable them to serve their country for 1 year ( with the special exemption of PMBs son who did less and got his certificate) but now they are denying NIGERIANS who have graduated and served their discharge certs

How can u go and do a course that is 3-4years even in the US and UK for 1year in Benin Rep...Imagine the waste of time and money now.

NYSC is claiming that they got information that students from Benin Republic universities did not pass through the four walls of universities and all bought their degrees. I doubt this is true, but then, how can they (NYSC) judge thousands of students who schooled in Benin Republic because of the misdeeds of a few bad eggs.

I know nothing about the buying and selling of degree certificates in Benin Republic, but what I am very sure about is that my sister went to school and have studied seriously from year 1 to her final year, with me remitting her school fees, not even to her but directly to the bank account of her institution.

Why is NYSC now causing her pains by withholding her certificate and that of thousand other foreign students after waisting one year of National service. This is not fair! Please give us advice and help us create awareness.

Sue them. NYSC isn't charged with verification of whether a university is good enough/accredited or not. If her university has given her a certificate and she presented same to the NYSC BEFORE and not AFTER the service and they accepted her, then what are we talking about here. Sue the pants off of them. Get a lawyer and SUE THEM. Don't just come here and tell us about it. I repeat, SUE THEM.

You guys should prove them wrong. I argued with the organization about the month interval they call one year and was changed finally. For instance, June 5 to May 4, instead of June 5 to June 4.

Should NYSC offer certificate to graduate that can't read and write. Most schools in Benin Republic are offering free to air certificate to qualify bidders.
All graduates from that country must be properly investigated.... Period.

Really sorry for your relative, I think the reason is cos schools in Benin Republic dont meet the least standards here in nigeria.i saw heard of one that uses a container has students affairs department.

What they should do is to subject all graduates from said country to thorough investigation in order to obtain fact about them.....!

No course is one year in Benin Republic.

BTW why did they allowed her to served and failed to give her cert?...........may be for reason other than what the Op mentioned.

It is not NYSC that decides which schools' graduate are eligible to participate in the scheme, it is the NUC. However, NYSC should not have allowed such graduates to waste a year of their lives

this is a good call from Nysc I know of a gal that stays at home and I just saw her serving what kind of nonsense school is that I checked her profile saw the school name Google Search nothing good came out of it

The honest truth is that most Benin graduates in recent times purchased their certificates. I know of a school in Benin and not the only one that would issue you a degree in 9months... Two of their "supposed graduates" well known to me are currently serving.

I doubt they would be issued discharge certificates...

I met a guy and he told me as soon so your parents drop you off, the school will call you and ask you what grade you want to finish with from the school .They even wear uniform in that uni, I can't remember the name. I just pity the innocent students who will be affected by the action of the NYSC

I believe that her case will surely be resolved. This is just a way to separate the real graduate from fake ones.

If the candidate has served her country under the guidance of the NYSC, then the issuance of that certificate to that candidate becomes a right. God forbid, but if she had died in an accident while on duty, wouldn't the same NYSC have issued a new pair of uniforms and boots for her?

The lawyers only need to look at the laws establishing NYSC and check their roles and functions. I'm sure certifying which university is worthy to produce candidates is not one of their job functions. They don't have such expertise nor the manpower to engage in such.

Besides they should have rejected them BEFORE and not AFTER wasting one year of their lives.

Time is money. Sue the hell out of them.

A guy graduated from my uni (same set) with a very low grade. Now on Facebook, I see her has added a foreign degree from Benin Republic, within a space of two years. I blame their government for looking the other way while such nefarious activity takes place.

Okay,i dont know why tho but I've seen Most professional council's/Boards warning against getting degrees from schools in Benin Rep and their said graduates are not Certified or recognized in Nigeria.
Probably the NYSC Board has just taken a step further in respect to such complains.
Enquire from Engineering,Medical and nursing students from Benin Rep and they'll tell u first hand what i'm saying.

Let her go and get her transcript from the school, then forward it to NYSC secretariat at Abuja and follow-up.
She will be given her certificate

Keep quiet and stop saying rubbish. There is no 1year course in Benin Republic.

Admission criteria in admitting most students in our neighbourly countries differ from ours! Most students who can't get admission in Nigerian Universities, do so in our francophone speaking countries! Nigerian Universities need 5 credits including Maths and English. But with less, you get admitted in Benin republic. In Ghana one can find two or more quack Universities in a single multistorey building!
