Sue them. NYSC isn't charged with verification of whether a university is good enough/accredited or not. If her university has given her a certificate and she presented same to the NYSC BEFORE and not AFTER the service and they accepted her, then what are we talking about here. Some legit corp members have their service year extended or outrightly dismissed from camp. It will take 4yrs for NYSC to respond to any law case from the lady. It is not NYSC that decides which schools' graduate are eligible to participate in the scheme, it is the NUC. However, NYSC should not have allowed such graduates to waste a year of their lives

It is not even NUC because they lack power to accredit a sch in a foreign land, it is the business of Ministry of education and Ministry of labour to determine a qualification that is good for our economy.
Nuc or NYSC can't blacklist the academic qualification of a foreign sch.
The question is "are these schools accredited by the ministry of edu in Benin to issue the certificate?" If yes, then our ministry of edu And labour should review their process to check if it conforms with our standards, if it doesn't, they blacklist such sch or country as the case may be.
Can NUC accredit Harvard, MIT, FLSU, etc. We too love show of force for this our country

NYSC is claiming that they got information that students from Benin Republic universities did not pass through the four walls of universities and all bought their degrees. I doubt this is true, but then, how can they (NYSC) judge thousands of students who schooled in Benin Republic because of the misdeeds of a few bad eggs.

I know nothing about the buying and selling of degree certificates in Benin Republic, but what I am very sure about is that my sister went to school and have studied seriously from year 1 to her final year, with me remitting her school fees, not even to her but directly to the bank account of her institution.

Why is NYSC now causing her pains by withholding her certificate and that of thousand other foreign students after waisting one year of National service. This is not fair! Please give us advice and help us create awareness.

I'm sure the issue will be resolved if the school is in the list of schools recognised my NUC. Let's always verify before enrollment in any school, especially forieng institutions.

The right and discretion to issue...and the candidate has the right to sue. If she has a good lawyer it will take NYSC 4days to appear in court and defend its actions.

Were they blind when she submitted her certificate for verification and call up?

Were they having spastic convulsion when they sent her her call up letter?

Were they in the throes of serious brain contusion and confusion when they issued her NYSC kit and then proceeded to assign her to a local government for primary assignment?

Were they missing a neuron in their brain matter when they paid her allowance for 12 months?

I met a guy and he told me as soon so your parents drop you off, the school will call you and ask you what grade you want to finish with from the school .They even wear uniform in that uni, I can't remember the name. I just pity the innocent students who will be affected by the action of the NYSC

Such a pity but I tell you most of the students know this and lured there by the supposed fast tracked degrees.

The even more pitiable thing is that some of these graduates can't write a coherent essay... This is no beef... I mean every word, some can't fill a basic form.

Lots of Lagos slay queens and kings that boasts of Benin degrees are beneficiaries of this system.

Benin Republic don cast, you will find out that a whole certificate issuing university is just a storey building big.

Most people that school in Cotonou went just for enjoyment, yahoo boys and Olosho girls, codeine ridden girls and Igbo ridden boys everywhere.

I knew of a girl who was withdrawn by Yabatech, her cgpa for a while session was 0.9 out of a possible 4.

my girl leave school enter Cotonou straight, new thing I saw was a corper uniform on the space of 3 years, me sef fear nah, someone that'll be copying you and still tell you to spell it for her in the exam hall.

If I didn't stay in Cotonou I won't know it's real, Universities cropping up everywhere, even apartment building are being converted to degree awarding universities.

I think they will release it after due investigation. You could recall that the DG said they will investigate all certificates emanating from Universities in Benin Republic. Most graduates from such schools can't read and write. Just be patient while they conclude their investigation. Stay calm!!

I think is long overdue by the Federal Government to scrutinize some/most of those university in some of the African country. I knew of someone close to me who didn't spent a year in one of those university but today, a graduate and also planning to be mobilize for NYSC where as many students are struggling back home in other to be called a graduate. Those university are just making money not minding the IQ of the so called graduate they are shunning out year in year out. I support the government on this, time to sanitize all this anomalies.

Right from my time in camp I knew the FG wants to stop Nigerians from going to Benin republic to school I mean check world ranking of universities our top 10 are better Dan theirs yet our ppl carry school fee to pay dem because its close and still cum to camp as foreign student
