Debaiz:I haven't seen it anywhere that's why I asked. Besides stating dat Nigeria is the largest rice producer in Africa is bad interpretation f statistics. Rice production per capita is a better stat to work with. Nigeria doesn't produce enough rice; which is why it's the 2nd largest importer globally. |

IronGalaxy:Exactly! Jazz, opera, etc, that's exactly why imo, I believe South Africans, have the best vocal ranges capable of belching out any note. Singing especially, is something many of us start at a very young age. Almost all schools have music as an extracurricular activity. |

XhosaNostra:For me I know how malaria symptoms feels like. but having a lab test is the best way out though, as it have similar symptoms to cholera and other flu. By the way how do you feel today? |

stanliwiser:Oh okay. Are you feeling better now? I'm much, much better, thank you. I had to drink a disgusting concoction made with lemon last night. It paid off because I can even taste food now. |

XhosaNostra:I am super strong and up for daily task. Oh, good to know you're stronger, I don't like concoctions at all, I am more of the pharmacist's drug type. The mode of most concoction preparation is why I don't take concoction and aside that many are either soar or very bitter. |

stanliwiser:Good to hear you're back to your virile self. Well, we're the exact opposite of each other because I have a hard time taking down pills etc. So usually, I just let an illness run its course without medicating myself. Yesterday, however, I had to try. |

XhosaNostra:Haaa, that means your endurance is realy strong then, I hate being sick because by nature I like being active and moving. I just don't like to fall sick for even a minute. |

stanliwiser:Same here. I despise being incapacitated. The days seem longer. It's boring. |

throwaway:If you bothered to read my initial post well to the end, there won’t be any need for this. This is all included in the post. Try and read again and let me know if it’s not there. |

XhosaNostra:How is your body. Lol. Thats how we ask "how's your health?" Yeah, you guys have the best vocalists in the continent. Especially your ladies. It's something the average Nigerian music consumer does not appreciate much. Here it's more about rhythm and melody. And our consumers are not really into slow songs. Slowest they can have are mid tempo songs. And they don't want anything too intellectual. If you are planning to serve them that, you better make sure the melody is good and it's got a lot of rhythm. One Southie song that was very big here "Kona" by Mafikizolo had all those elements. Another one that plays in virtually every bar in Abuja right now: "No matter where you go, remember the road that will you home" It has unforgettable melody and beat. Your musicians were very big here in the '80s to mid 90s. Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Brenda Fasi, Lucky Dude, and that white man, Simon Something. I think he is originally American. I can never forget Yvonne Chaka Chaka's "Thank you mister DJ for playing my song". It was HUGE for years growing up. |

WORLDPEACE:Feeling awesome, thanks. How's your day going? |

XhosaNostra:My day's been good. Hope it gets better. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 6:24pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:How big was Yvonne in her prime in SA? I feel like she is not as celebrated as Brenda. "Umqombothi" and "Mr DJ" were really huge here. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by XhosaNostra(f): 6:57pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
WORLDPEACE:She was big but I was too young at the height of her career. Funny because she & Brenda were rivals. It's almost like you couldn't just love both, you had to chose. My mother was a huge Brenda Fassie fan & as expected, she didn't like Yvonne. Called her untalented lol. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 7:31pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:I loved them both. Kept seeing Brenda much longer but Yvonne kinda just disappeared here. Did she retire early. Why did your mother feel she was untalented? |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 7:35pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:I can't remember either of them ever coming here during their prime. I wonder if they knew then how much people jammed to their songs here. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by XhosaNostra(f): 7:45pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
WORLDPEACE:She's a businesswoman now, so I guess music is taking the backseat. I don't know much about her life, except for a few interviews she's done here & there. My mother thought Brenda had a much better voice & overall star power. When I say she was a fan, I mean she probably would have been part of the "force" or "hive" that argues with people online to defend their star. She loved her that much lol. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by XhosaNostra(f): 7:49pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
WORLDPEACE:Hmmmm...I'm sure they were aware. Lucky Dube seems more popular with Nigerians though. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 8:01pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:I think Brenda was more Brenda than anything else. She was unique. But Yvonne was prettier. That could give one an edge in show biz. Plus Brenda didnt age as gracefully as Yvonne. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 8:09pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:Yeah, Nigerians really loved reggae. You can hear carribean music influence in our music now. It comes from serious consumption of reggae and dance hall that's lasted over three decades. I read from Richard Branson's autobiography that he signed reggae artists because of the Nigerian market in the ‘80s. I like Lucky Dube's falsetto. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by XhosaNostra(f): 8:09pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
WORLDPEACE:Very true, but I feel Brenda had a much bigger fanbase because she was more relatable & down to earth. Whereas, Yvonne is a bit more sophisticated & not that great a singer lol. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 8:15pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:How early in her career did people know about Brenda's sexual orientation? |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by XhosaNostra(f): 8:19pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
WORLDPEACE:Lucky was superb. I love watching his live shows in my spare time. He was a man with God given talent. Love him on this video below. His voice is out of this world. The video makes me emotional lol. [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3v09Rq9hzw] |

WORLDPEACE:What of her sexual orientation? |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 8:38pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:I learned she was a lesbians after her death. Am I wrong? |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 8:50pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:Yeah, I know this song. He was a very spiritual performer. Yeah Nigerian music is a mishmash of many genres, both local and foreign. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by XhosaNostra(f): 8:52pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
WORLDPEACE:Lol, maybe more like bisexual because she's had relationships with men publicly. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by XhosaNostra(f): 8:58pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
WORLDPEACE:I just love watching him live, particularly in this video because of the way he's expressing his emotions. Apparently he was going through a divorce at the time he wrote/performed this song & he's doing a great job telling the story. Hmmm...interesting. What's your favourite genre in music? |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 8:58pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:Oh, I see. What is about the female mind that makes it easier for them to be bisexual than men? I think most who are not straight are homosexuals, not bisexual. Once I hear that a man swing both ways, I just assume that he is only using the woman in his life to cover up his gayness. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 9:02pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:I used to be a serious Hip-Hop head but there are not to many new artists that I like. I like soul a lot too. I think it's soul and Hip-Hop. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by WORLDPEACE(m): 9:04pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
XhosaNostra:Whatever the genre though, if it has good melody and witty lyrics, I consume. |
| Re: Cassper Nyovest Hails Nigerian Music Industry For Their Unity by XhosaNostra(f): 9:08pm On Jul 30, 2019 |
WORLDPEACE:LMAO. I share your sentiments, tbh. I would never date someone that's bisexual because that's gay whichever way you look at it. Well, I'm not sure why it's much easier for women. Perhaps it could be the fact that most people think it's hot when two girls get it on. IDK. |
