Whats a lie? That only the accused will ever be arrested or persecuted in any way? Please if you don't know something don't comment on it. I stand by it - it can never happen in an advanced country unless there is irrefutable evidence that the family or friend is involved. The only exception to this is if the crime has caused such a public outcry(e.g terrorism) that the police believe the public might harm the culprit's family then they can offer the family protective custody and this again is optional.

I maintain that its a lie. Abroad is a large context. You are being vague.

They were probably notified of the escort duty at the last minute. Plan to hijack the cash may have been hatched on the fly. Then they abandoned their phones and couldn't contact their family. Note that families of four of the soldiers are currently in hiding.

Did you see abroad in my statement?? Abroad means any foreign country okay? I clearly said advanced countries and I stand by what I said. Every advanced country protects the rights of individuals okay? And this is against human rights i.e punishing one person for another person's crime just because they are related. Even the Nigerian constitution does not support punishing one person for another's crime but clearly, we have no respect for the rule of law and that, my friend, is the difference between an advanced country and a third world country.

Yes I know you are in Guinea and think you are abroad, you are right but I said advanced countries not abroad grin

So far nobody has claim ownership of the money,it is a loot that was relooted. The runaway soldiers should use the money judiciously and invest wisely.

What a backward country arresting friends and family of a suspect. In advanced countries, the police will not even discuss the case except with the accused or legal representative. Everyone, not their family not their friends, is responsible for their own actions.
This place we call a country is actually a Jungle. Especially in this era of fulanitocrasy.

If u are among those who believe that it was jst #400 million naira only then u are too gullible. It was much more than that. If the actual money was stated it would raise too much dust in the eyes of the public. Its so pathetic that the NA have to detain the families of the assailants. For what purpose actually ? Torment, starve , forceful confession . This is a case of ILLEGALLY LEGAL KIDNAP. Absolute disregard for the rule of law and humanity. Those soldiers should remain where they are if they know what's best for them. The. NA should even detain the corpses of their late grand grand parents, who cares ? When they are tired of detention ,na dem go use their hands free them . Corrupt senior military officers leaching on the funds meant to fight the war.

Soldiers salaries are not paid in cash. They are paid through their respective bank accounts. There are banks in sokoto to deposits the money into.Mind you, stolen money are now move in transit.

So the military now serve as escorts for transportation of money by the affluent? Soldiers that are insufficient to defend the nation are being used to escort money.

I hope the govt that's fighting corruption is hearing this?
I'm sure that soldier didn't like that his wife and even children to begin with.
Others alerted their families but you sacrificed yours.
Between, the Army have no right to detain the women . I hope so Human Right lawyers come to her rescue and Sue the Army for unlawful detention and inhumane treatment.

Who said she's being punished? She will be released like I earlier said. Shes being questioned. Reason being that she might know the whereabouts of her husband and the husband is likely to contact her. Many criminal cases have been solved by my department under such circumstances.

Name the advanced country you are talking of so I can unravel their criminal justice system and quote instances and cases where the wife was detained in similar fashion.

Stop hiding behind 'advanced countries'.

I wanted to disagree with you but considering what ordinary rank and file soldiers are going through in the useless compromised bokoharam aka business war, l agree with your post, let the bastards called general go and fight the war themselves, those soldiers should by now be along Cotonou /Lome / Ghana enroute to the western world, useless military milking the country via a compromised war grin

DUMB Yoloba soldiers

how can you plan such thing without moving your family out

I doubt if it was planned. The heist must have been at the spur of the moment. No one who intends to move such an amount will notify anyone antime well in advance. They had done it before so knew what it was but probably did not know 'when'.

Anyway N400 million in cash outside financial institutions cannot be legitimate activity. To involve the military means such activities are sanctioned at the very top. The top that keeps toying with the psyche of Nigerians about a phantom anti corruption crusade.

Rubbish.... The word arrest being used here infers punishment. So the family is in detention voluntarily then? And what was this story about all the while? Why would the family need to lament if it's not a punishment? This will never happen in an advanced country. If the police want to speak to you about a friend or relative they will not arrest you but solicit your help VOLUNTARILY. If you refuse and they think you are involved they will go to a judge who will look at the evidence and only if the judge agrees will an arrest warrant be issued. Never said the family will or will not later be released, that's not the bone of contention - they should never have been arrested in the first place! Even the actual suspect cannot be held beyond a period of 24hours without going to court.

Use your own judgment to determine what an advanced country is and then give your example.

Haha you are in law enforcement - I rest my case.
