I want to unpublish and republish all my three books because they're not making sales, so I want to remake them.

- The title on the cover is barely legible (white font color on a white/green background is horrible)

Made $11,921.86 in July

Happy new month everyone.

So the month of July is finally over and I've gotten my finalized KDP numbers. Unfortunately, my ACX earnings for July is a conservative estimation, I'll have to wait till August month-end when I get the payment invoice from Audible to know my exact numbers...but judging from my royalty rate for June, I suspect I made more in audiobook royalties.

On a good note, I finally surpassed my goal of making $5000+/month in paperback sales alone.

Furthermore, this is my first time earning $11,000+ in 2 consecutive months!

Income Breakdown for July:

KDP (ebook + KENP) = $1638.31
KDP paperback = $5201.55
ACX Audiobook = $5082

Total Earnings = $11,921.86 (N4.3 million)

Goals For August
- Make $10,000/month with KDP ebook and paperback sales alone (went as high as $6839.86 in July)

Yearly 2019 Goal
- Make $20,000/month with my publishing business

Back in January, my yearly goal was a very scary one but as the months have gone by and I'm seeing myself inching closer to it, I'm beginning to believe it's possible. The only difficult bit is being consistent in the number of books I publish every month and doing my best to optimize all of them to perform at their best

To perform well in Kindle Publishing, you need to:

1. Be consistent

If your goal is to make $100/month and you've done the math and figured out how many books you need to pull that off, you need to consistently put in effort to create those books. Initially, you may not see results..do not be discouraged. It's like the compound effect, after a while everything will click and you'll start enjoying the fruit of your labor...you can't expect to plant today and reap today..you have to nurture it first.


2. Be focused

It's easy to get distracted by every other business model out there - Affiliate Marketing, dropshipping, palm oil business, cashew nut business, domain flipping etc. You can't afford to be a jack of all trade and master of none. It takes 10,000 hours of continuous work on something to achieve mastery in it. Once you know that business model works, ignore every other thing and focus all your effort on that one thing for sufficient time to start seeing results.


3. Commit to creating quality content

These are the types of content that stand the test of time. You need to make the customer feel that you've given them so much value they owe you a positive review. Don't just do what every other person is doing, go above and beyond. Don't be quick to flood the market with a bunch of crappy books just to make a quick buck..think long term


4. Set goals

How can you expect to get to your destination if you haven't adjusted the sail of your ship to catch the wind that'll take you there? you'll just be drifting aimlessly on the ocean. In the same vein, you need to set specific goals and work out HOW you can achieve those goals. A goal without a deadline is a dream.


5. Be in a mastermind

Being in a mastermind environment will push you to expand your mindset and achieve the impossible. I'll have to be honest, without having a mentor or being in a mastermind with people making 20-30k/month with their publishing business, I wouldn't think making 10k/month would be possible. Instead, i would be very happy with making $1000/month since, compared to most people I would be crushing it. However, I prefer to be in the midst of masters who are far better than me...that will keep me hungry and pushing the boundary of whats possible.

You need to be in the same kind of mastermind to push yourself.

Work with mentors who have achieved the results you want to achieve and you can see (from their visible results) that they actually practice what they preach. Anyone can make claims, only a few actually back up their claims with results.


6. Diversify your portfolio

When I say diversify, I don't mean spread yourself thin across multiple businesses. I mean diversify within publishing. Don't just put all your eggs in one basket (or one niche), once you've dominated a certain niche, spread your tentacles to other niches. Learn those niches, figure out how to be successful in them. Having a diversified portfolio will help you to maintain a fairly consistent income stream instead of having massive fluctuations in your earnings because you're too heavy in a seasonal niche or you have only one book.

Some freelance writers sell you the same manuscript they sold to others. You'll never know until you publish the book and get banned by Amazon for violating someone's copyright.

It almost happened to me when I was new to this business...I was lucky because during a random search on Amazon I found a book that looked very similar to the manuscript I was given...I bought the book, looked through it and realised it was exactly what I was being sold. I never made payment

A few other people weren't so lucky..they lost their money. Ofcuz they can decide to complain to upwork and the freelancer will get banned/suspended and you'll be lucky to get your money back if it's been withdrawn from escrow...the freelancer, on the other hand, will just open another account

Now that you mentioned it, I think one of them is called "Article Buddy". It scrambles the codes behind the texts and then pass off plagiarized works as "unique".

This book looks like a fiction book. I don't do fiction publishing so I don't have any experience of what works or what doesn't work.

If I were you, I'd go to places where my audience congregates (e.g. facebook groups, web forums etc.) and do a survey with them..which cover resonates best with them. I'm not your ideal audience so my opinion doesn't really mean anything.
