Yes I agree with u bt that doesn’t mean in such low places of service u shudnt exercise ur civil rights in protest when things above u are going wrong. I can not keep quiet in the face of wrong doing and intentional and continuous bad governance. Protests is part of governance for those who can get any lower positions in government, businessmen, civil servant etc..

Protest is the way u correct or express ur disaffection to bad policies of government in democracy. It is legal and ur right.

I love protesting. When I drive, all my paper is correct so I sit on my bonnet and read a book whenever police stop me and hold on to my particulars. I'm protesting. When dem tire dem go kuku let me go. Even when I'm breaking the law driving a right hand UK registered lorry full of books from Lagos to Osun, I just wave book in their face. Protest! In my frequent areas police know me as protester and don't even bother, and I know my battle is not against flesh and blood.

Here, where I live, I protest. I go on marches and I bother people. I guess its the advanced democracy we practise here, my local MP holds walk in surgery once a month and I can always write her and get a response. That, is how enlightened people, which we need to become, protests, and not by aluta in the streets a la 80s they still seem to teach in our schools!

Bloggers will soon post contact details of our representatives, then we'll start bugging them. We Nigerians need to practise the art of holding our representatives to account, and by my bubu's end? We'll run things. Or be closer than we currently are.

The problem is Nigerians leaders are not civilized. Do u think any subordinate can talk to the National Assembly or presidency on certain controversial or hard issues? The Nigerian system is poor and hardly works without adequate pressure.

Local Government chairmen can not question the Governors and governors can’t question presidency on certain issues unless the ones that affect their selfish interest. 90% of our politicians don’t care about our the people just their pocket. There is no civil channel to air ur views and it gets up to the presidency, our politicians are either not educated, civilized or greedy to care so the fault isn’t just from the citizens here. Don’t blame them for getting fed up.

In America they Expres their displeasure via protest when trump was elected. There was no treason.
